I Missed Teaching

Teachers are heroes, real heroes. From creche, to primary to secondary, our teachers are really trying. They might look harsh while beating or scolding, but they are nice and loving.

After completing my secondary/high school education, I couldn't gain admission into the university immediately so I resolved to teaching alongside learning my fashion designing. Teaching looked tiring at first because I haven't done it before. The children were so noisy and stubborn I hated noise. Many of them wouldn't understand or grap what I'm trying to teach them immediately, I have to be patient with them and teach them during free hours to be able to understand.

I have the brilliant students (always the teacher's favorite) who are always cheerful and the first to answer questions. I have the average students, those I have to make extra effort on to make sure they understand what they are been taught. I have gentle ones, always quiet and reserved who are also brilliant. All of them are with various characters with amazing personalities. One amazing qualities they have been is they are always happy and cheerful in class. I am always easy with them to make sure they are comfortable. I have the stubborn ones, those I have to punish and scold, restrict the way they play because they forget things easily once they play and run around during break time.

I have a special student while I was still teaching, a physically challenged student, she cannot speak properly and does not hear. She stays with her mates in class because she needs to reach a certain age before she can transferred to a 'special school' where specialist trained in that aspect will focus their attention on them and teach them. So far, she is able to write what is written on the board to some extent, despite the fact that she couldn't speak she loves to interact with her mates. She disturbs them in class and they report her behavior to me countless times, I understand that's her way of trying to get their attention and play with them, but it's always a wrong timing, because she disturbs anytime they are busy studying in class when she had nothing to do. I advised them to be patient with her and play with her during break time which they did. The girl in particular is always smiling and happy anytime she comes to class she kneels and greet like everyone does, she sings sometimes which is always not clear and at the same time a wrong timing, she disturbs a lot, tears off a whole note book within a day, but despite she happens to be one of my favorite. She does not allow anyone to cheat her, while other students are taking turns to stand in front of the class to read while other students respond (a teaching method I used for my students) when it's her turn to read hers, she wouldn't allow them to bypass her, she would stand and point to the sentences waiting for her mates to pronounce them. She is always happy whenever she does that.

To mention but few, my students are brilliant and loving. I missed those days when I will always grumble finding it difficult to wake up as early as 5am to prepare for school, but I find joy teaching them, maths is always what they hate but they love everyother subject including learning poems and songs.

Teaching has it own stress but it fun if only you could endure through. I haven't had the experience yet but I hope to one day.

Yes. It takes endurance and patient to teach just as our parents and teachers are patient with us.

Teaching is sweet when the pupils are understanding the topic but it becomes hell when nothing is entering them. I've taught in different levels both church and school and they were all good. But I don't see myself teaching children, I love children no doubt about that, but the stress of shouting and none is comprehending is what I don't like to engage with.

I love it when I'm teaching adults
