Purple paddy cultivation in Maheshpur

If rice plants, paddy, even rice are purple then it is a surprise. Because everyone is accustomed to seeing green rice plants, golden rice and white rice. However, a farmer of Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah district has recently created a stir by cultivating a completely new variety of paddy. People from far and wide come every day to see this colorful paddy field, and even the theft of paddy trees from the field is happening every day.

Farmer Saheb Ali, son of late Rummat Ali of Adampur village in Azampur union of Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah district. His family mainly works in agriculture. In the current boro season, he has cultivated new varieties and new colors of paddy in a little more than 1 bigha of land and has created a stir in the area. This completely purple paddy is being cultivated for the first time in the area. Like farmer Ali, two other farmers of the village Lokman Hossain and teacher Hafizur Rahman have cultivated the same variety of paddy in 1 bigha and 2 bighas of land.However, in the middle of the night, the seedlings were taken away from the paddy fields, due to which the paddy fields became empty from time to time.
