"You can only lose what you cling to."-Buddha. I came across this quote while I'm browsing and it just hit really hard in my mind. As I reflect on it, I understood certain aspect of life.

We create our own pain and suffering. We choose who we'll be together with, choose what food to eat, where to go, what dream to have, and so on. Those are examples of people and things we cling in life. Those that we're attaching ourselves. And those that we attached with are the only ones we can lose. You can't lose a person that you never invested in. For example, if one of the stranger leave you alone then that's not your loss, however if your lover leave you for good, it'll be a loss. It depends on the situation, if that lover is good for your being then it's your loss but if that lover is toxic to you, it's still your loss...you know what you lose? ...part of yourself.

Existence of the word "cherish"

We tend to give parts of ourselves to people and things we choose to cling. Once we cling to them then we have to accept the fact that there's a risk of losing them. That's the reality of life. That's why the word "cherish" exist. Cherish those who genuinely love you, cherish those time, things, and activities that develop you. Cherish your own self.

Fear of Losing

We don't only give parts of us to the things we cling to. We're also bound to the energy, attention, affection, and love we're receiving. We also made those people and those things as part of ourselves. We built ourselves with them too. Those feelings that we found essential and priceless in life, bit by bit we're realizing the fear to lose those we love and what we have. We fear to crumble back down to the ground and restart again after every hard work we invested. We became scared as it'll be confusing and feels like we're lost because when we lose those we cling to then we'll question ourselves, because as aforementioned...we made those as part of ourselves.

Clinging to emotions

Reflect. Personally, I found emotions the hardest to control. For most people, it is anger. Humans tend to cling to emotions to. Perfect example is the desire of everyone of us for happiness. However, we should consider that happiness doesn't always go exactly what we think it is

We should be careful when clinging to certain emotions. Specially anger, if we'll cling to it too much then keep it inside of us and let it eat out being then it'll cause a war of reciprocity where only pain and anger occurs. When we put our anger on top and when the other person do the same then it'll not solve anything, instead ruin each other.

Think for yourself. Decide for yourself. Choose those who you feel and think worthy of suffering from loss of being abandoned, left out, or denied. Choose those who are worth the pain.

Indeed we will be more happier if we surround ourselves with people who we cherish and they do it in return.
