Power users A few days ago we have discovered one more way some people are abusing the point system. https://read.cash/@Read.Cash/the-point-system-fa56be9b When we created the point system it seemed very hard for anyone to get 10 thumbs up:
So, we decided that if writing an article was 20 points then achieving 10 thumbs up should be at least 50 points and something like 40 points is really a super-worthy article, so at least 160 points more. We did of course guess that some people would try to abuse it, but it seemed like it made no sense - creating 10, let alone 40 accounts to upvote yourself to get like a few cents?... Well, some people just have too much time on their hands to make it bad for everyone:
50 upvotes for.. an empty article. Who upvotes this?
Seem like normal, regular users we all know, right? No, of course, not. But they can't be making that much points from it, right? **25% of daily points**. So, everyone's points is at least 25% cheaper due to this guy. It's not hard to figure out who he is. As usual the question "who benefits" helps greatly here:
So, we of course, dealt with the situation promptly by banning the guy for massive cheating, but would it stop him? We got to give it to him, he did give us all a fair warning 😄
Of course not. He's probably pissed that he spent the whole day clicking the buttons and got paid nothing, so he (or maybe them... maybe it's a whole team) probably are registering 50 more accounts... How do we stop these attempts? Well, we created a plan some time ago and were developing it quietly (as usual). Please welcome.... The Power Users The power users are just regular users that suddenly have super-powers. To get 40 points for 10 thumbs up at least one of these thumbs up must come from a power user. To get 160 points for 40 thumbs up - at least two of these should come from a power user. Your post also won't make it to the home page unless one of the power user upvotes it. *To prevent abuse the power users don't know about their status* Well, I guess somebody could eventually figure out that he or she is a power user, but there are two things to note here: 1) this title isn't forever - if a power user stops doing right things - you lose it; 2) to further hide the fact that a user is a power user we have added a random delay between power users' action and the site's reaction to prevent experimentation. We give a title of power user to people who are really putting in a lot of effort into being a good citizen on site. We won't disclose exact criteria, because people will start abusing this (though it's pretty hard to abuse, you need to put in a lot of effort). Also, we can assure you that having a title of power user has nothing to do with being a Bitcoin Cash fan or speaking English or being there from the beginning of the site. Anyone can become a power user within a few days if she or he is doing the right things on read.cash. Right now 211 of ~5000 users have this title. For most of our users this shouldn't even be a problem. If your post gets 10 real upvotes - then for sure at least one of them will come from a power user - that's just how natural voting works. But it will hopefully be a big problem for scammers. We have updated our point system accordingly:

First comment thank u for this ,I made I mistakes too in the past but I realized that is wrong and now I keep doing the right things and learn from my mistakes.
Well, so far this is very good. It will give a fairness to the legit creators who are not violating the rules of the platform. And the Power User status is very good. Because if they knew that one user is a Power User, they will abuse it. Thank you for this update.

This seems like a really good innovation... At least it would greatly help reduce spammers... Well planned out strategy... I don't get why these people are just been on hindering the growth of this platform. Imagine someone creating so many accounts just to like his own. That's doesn't sound sane. Well, I believe in you guyz and I know you would always be there to keep this platform reliable for we the good users. Thumbs up to you guyz. Hope you guys earn from my thumbs up😉

Comment spam is *really* hard, because other than obvious things like copying the text - what can we do about it? So, the guy says "Thank you for the information" - should we ban him for that? Or he posts with lots of typos? Maybe he's poor and not well-educated - it's not like we should ban people for being poor. So, "comment spam" is *really-really* hard to define.

@readcash he come from my REFFERal but I don't remember who the person is I have 100+ refferals already and I can't remember them one by one , I keep posting on Facebook everyday , I told them to WRIGHT good ARTICLEs and do not copy from the internet, I also upload a video o youtube on how to use readcash,6days ago, and still they did not listen and do what they want in order to make easy money, but he did not know what karma is .
Don't worry about it, bad people appear randomly.
The cat and mouse game continues, but only in this way can read.cash get better and better. This is certainly not the last update, the scammers are creative, but with time it gets more and more complex and no longer attractive. You are on the right track. The website will be the best, I'm convinced of that and I'm happy to being part of it almost from the beginning.

Very well done, Team Read.cash my suggestion is that. Truly it'd be hard for a regular user to post articles that get through every member of read.cash. do you mind adding a follow button which will enable every follower of an author to see each others posts without it being one-sided like the subscribe button. Thank you. And you are really doing a great job. Read.cash, though my writings may seem lame but I'm beginning to grow interest in writing.

For instance, when your article seems nice to me, I follow you(it's like sending a friend request) after you accept, the request. Every I get notified of your new articles and you of my articles as well. Hope you got my point sir?
Yes, but this will lead to massive spam of users. I mean people will be sitting whole day clicking this "send a message to this user" button. It's already happening with article submission to communities and we're going to stop sending these notifications, because people are complaining. If your content is interesting - it will find a way eventually. Reply to other people's comments, so that people notice you.

@read.cash you are working very hard to deliver what the community really appreciate, I like the way the platform have been solving spam and gamification problems and surely the measures are quite cool compared to other platforms😎

Thank you for the update @read.cash I just published about the rules that keep their mind when using your site. I hope that many notice and read so that they become aware specially the new user of your site.
Just very impressive like yesterday's update. This plan looks great on paper as you said. But it needs time so we can tell how it's going to work in real. I guess those new rules will be hard to break, yet you never what people can do do to abuse the system.
Scammer is everywhere. Happy to know that there are people protecting read.cash community from these people. I am happy that i came across this site.

No, that's the point. Nobody must know how to become a power user, otherwise spammers would do exactly that. Being a power user gives you no privileges. It's only a mark for us for whom to listen to carefully.

No, it's a very positive mark. You might find same mark on other platforms marked as "Original Content". However we don't use that term, because sometimes people are owners of the original content they publish to multiple platforms. So if we can't find this text on the Internet - we mark it as "Exclusive".

See this is what I meant when I said earlier that it's probably not a good idea to be 100% transparent. To fight some sort of spam, you will have to do some of the spam fighting in a not so transparent way. I like what's being done here. One question is, would power users gain any extra points for being good samaritans?
They don't need to be good samaritans. They just do whatever they do. It's only a technical mark which shows us whom to listen to. Since they do what's right - they already are be getting a lot of benefits from the fund and tips, etc....

Interesting strategy. It could actually work. It's also a good idea to keep secret who is a power user and exactly how you select them. It's a pity that people are so dishonest that so much energy, time and creativity must be spent on cheating the cheaters - but unfortunately that's how the world is.
This. We'd much rather work on stuff like improving our editor or notifications or overall experience or sponsorships... improving something, rather than playing cat-and-mouse with people trying to earn a few cents more.
Yes that's what I mean. It is better if creativity, energy, time and other resources can be used to something positive. This cat-and-mouse game is somehow a meaningless waste of these resources. From both sides.
By the way this update is very good and smart. Scammers will reduce by it
