The difference between habit, fresh air and addiction

Someone may be doing the same thing over and over again in front of you or doing the same thing over and over again, which has no need or that doesn't seem meaningful to you. Again, you are not sure if the person is knowing what he is doing, or if he is thinking subconsciously. Or it could be that you are doing it yourself!

No matter what, when someone is seen behaving in such an unusual way, they try to define it with some similar words. For example, it may be said-

(1) It is his habit.

(2) He is extra picky or clean air.

(3) He has become addicted to this work.

Any one of the above three statements is more likely to be true. But how to clearly differentiate between these three issues? Suppose a person brushes his teeth several times a day. Would you say it's his habit, or is he clean-shaven?

In the case of fresh air all the strange tendencies can work. It may seem that a task has to be completed 'in such a short time', otherwise it will become a 'problem'. Although the whole thing is meaningless;

Or suppose a person takes out his mobile phone for a while and checks the news feed on Facebook. Would you call him Shuchibayugrastha, or addicted?

Some may be able to answer correctly. However, there is confusion among many about these three psychological issues. Let's get rid of this confusion.

Habits

It will be helpful to understand the whole thing by focusing on the subject of ‘habit’ at the beginning. Habit is something we can better understand. But what exactly does habit mean? It may be a little harder to define.

A practice is something that you do regularly or at regular intervals, or at certain times of the day. A closer look reveals that if you do something out of habit, you do not do it consciously. However, the process by which the habit was formed in you was intentional and you adopted that process very consciously or thoughtfully. Subsequently that work has become part of your daily routine and is permanently ingrained in the subconscious mind.

Habits can be of many kinds, but we usually divide habits into ‘good habits’ and ‘bad or bad habits’. The main difference between habit and clean air is that habit can be changed or eliminated with little willpower.

Whatever the habit, it will be embedded in your subconscious mind and become part of daily activities. You will do this automatically;

Example

(1) Suppose you have started a business that requires you to use social media to keep track of your business, to promote it, and to control the order of your business products. In this case, you may prefer Facebook as a medium and you can easily do the above tasks. That's why you need to be active on Facebook most of the day. Then it will be seen that in leisure time, in the middle of chatting with friends or even on holidays, you are repeatedly logging on to Facebook to find out everything.

Remember, it's not addiction or fresh air, it's your habit. Because, you have included this work in your daily routine with a specific purpose and you are doing it after a while in your subconscious mind.

(2) Suppose you are an adult. You want to smoke right after eating rice every now and then and you do. This is also a habit, because you have started this work knowingly and with a little effort you can change or omit this ‘rule’.

(3) Most people brush their teeth as a matter of habit. From an early age, parents develop this habit among their children for health reasons. It becomes so automated at times that we often wake up and subconsciously enter the washroom with the toothbrush in hand first.

Fresh air

What we call 'Shuchibayu' in Bengali is the name of a special psychological disease. This is called 'Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder' (OCD for short). However, it can be called OCD only when the symptoms of the disease reach an extreme stage or the negative effects of these symptoms begin to appear in daily life.

A person with severe hypertension does the same thing over and over again, and he may realize that there is no need to do it over and over again, or that the task is actually meaningless. But he still can't do without it. That is to say, he feels intense persecution to do that work in vain.

Again, he does not enjoy doing this. Note that the difference with habit is that although habit can be controlled, clean air cannot be controlled in most cases. This persecution becomes more intense when trying to control.

A person with clean air may wash his hands after a while, sweep the house repeatedly, check if the door has been locked a few times before going to bed, or do any such work, which does not need to be done more than once. Seeing his activity, it seems that a kind of unresponsiveness or squeaking feeling is working inside him. Keep in mind, however, that it is not uncommon for a person to have a slightly picky nature.

There is no alternative to seek medical help if the fresh air becomes severe. But sometimes it can disrupt a person's daily activities even if it is not intense.

Some symptoms and types

(1) Trying to clean up again and again. Therefore, a person can wash his hands and feet frequently, or take a bath. Or many people check to see if there is the slightest dirt or dust on the floor or bed sheets and keep sweeping repeatedly. This can also be a sign of fresh air. However, many people are very aware of cleanliness, their case is different.

(2) The tendency to keep everything neat and tidy. Suppose someone with a clean air arranges a book on the table, he may check again and again to see if the edges of all the books are aligned. If not, you will deal with it again. The same goes for arranging other things.

 (3) Shopping for no reason. Such a person tends to buy something he wants in front of his eyes or wants to go to the market again and again for shopping; Whether necessary or not. In this case, most of the time the person does not think deeply about his own abilities. As a result, he may later fall into an economic crisis.

(4) Repeatedly checking something. Someone might go to sleep, but he kept thinking, "Did I close the door properly?" After checking the door a couple of times and confirming, he may soon fall into doubt again, “Did I check it properly the previous time? Let's go and see again. " There is nothing wrong with being careful. But when it goes to abnormal levels, you have to think about it.

(5) To collect necessary and unnecessary items at will. When we are young, many of us also collect a lot of unnecessary things as a hobby, which may never be of any use to us. This is very normal for children and adolescents. But when an adult does such a thing year after year, his behavior can be said to be somewhat unusual.

The tendency to accumulate absolutely unnecessary things is also unusual;

(7) Unusual sexual behavior. Note that this is not an addiction to sex or a strong desire to have sex. Rather, in this case, a person tends to explain everything around him by sexual feelings almost all the time or finds sexuality in almost everything. This is called 'hyper-sexual disorder'. This causes many problems in personal life.

Addiction

Some people think that it is addictive to do something harmful over and over again. However, this idea is not complete. There must be something ‘dependent’ associated with any kind of addiction. That is, when a person becomes dependent on 'something', wants to do it again and again, and desires pleasure in return, it can be called addiction. That 'something' can be an object or a work.

The main differences between addiction to Shuchibayu are 'dependence on something' and 'hope for happiness' - which is not the case with Shuchibayu. A person who is addicted to something usually does not realize that the work may be harmful to him. Or even if you can understand a little bit, you may not want to admit or think about the harmful aspects of it.

 In most cases gambling goes to the stage of horrible addiction;

Some signs and examples

(1) You must become dependent on something. In most cases it is a drug or a drug that is taken without a doctor's advice. Addiction can also be caused by caffeine, which is found in tea or coffee. Some are addicted to gambling, or they may be addicted to gambling.

(2) Surprising to hear, the habit of borrowing money from people often goes to the point of some addiction. When someone sees that he is going to enjoy it by borrowing money from others, he often forgets that he has to repay the money, or he does not think deeply about repaying the money. So in most cases, those who borrow money from others, they almost regularly borrow from many people. Whether you repay the loan later is a different matter. The reason is addiction. And those who do not have this addiction, they do not borrow at all.

Before lending money to someone, his psychology should be considered. He may repay the loan in a few days, but he is not addicted to this loan?

(3) Another sign of an addiction to something is to do it more than planned and for a long time. A person who is addicted to smoking may think that he will use a certain number of cigarettes a day. But in most cases, smokers can't stand it. Again, a movie lover can decide that he will not watch movies for more than 2 hours a day. But it may be that he spends most of the day watching movies. The reason for this is addiction.

The above issues are psychological and it is very difficult to understand human psychology. In our country only physical problems are considered as diseases; The fact that some mental issues can take a terrible turn over time is not yet taken seriously in our society. If any of the above psychological problems become severe and have a negative impact on your lifestyle, you should consult a psychiatrist.
