Oh my Youth!

Hello my awesome friends, I welcome you all to today's journey of expressing our ideas and experiences through this great platform, i believe we are doing a great work here. Let me use this yet another opportunity to share with you this piece of information so we all maybe able to read and share our different opinions on this topic I am about to share with you.

I want to start by asking these questions to you my awesome readers, as you a young person, When you look down from the windows of your heart what do you see when it concern your parents and their live style when they were young? What comes to your mind when you look at the aged faces of your parents? Do you think they never passed through your youth age in their own time? Do you think they never saw and had experiences like you are having now? Did they just surface and gave birth to you and never had knowledge of what was and what is now trending in your own time? All of these questions may be popping out of your mind and waiting patiently for the right answers to be given to quench these thoughts in your mind.

To answer your questions and more, YES! Our parents climbed through these ladder of life and it's experiences and they saw all of these things that we are seeing today and still see it now with us. Nothing seem to have changed, A mother will ask her child a question and the response the child will give to her mother will be "if I tell you mom, you will not understand" and the child forgets to understand that it was the parents that first went through that path she is referring to as you will not understand. When you go out to the streets and see how our youths of today see life, behave and react to life experiences you begin to wonder where they learnt all of that from.

should I say the youth of our time is still on the right track or should I say they have gone out of the right track of good and high moral standards? Maybe I should discuss some of the factors that have really added to the faulty moral standards of living in our youths in this recent time. These factors includes;

FASHION, SOCIAL MEDIA, QUEST FOR MONEY, SOCIAL GROUPS, THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY GADGETS, ETC these items highlighted above and more have really changed the youths of today attitude towards life and how they see life. Let me take you on these road of items highlighted for further understanding.

FASHION.

I do not believe that we have stopped wearing cloth on our bodies and start going about naked as our new way of dressing, based on what we are seeing today, the fashion world has never changed its form of wears and method of dressing rather what changed is the style. Our parents never went naked on the streets, they never allowed themselves to be taken by these fashion world, but in recent times what we are seeing is a different picture where some of our youths will do anything just to wear trending cloth designs, some will go extra mile to indanger their lives all in the name to wear the latest dress to impress another person beside her, these quest for fashion are mostly seen amongst the young men and ladies of our time, some of the young ladies will dress and go about displaying their beautiful and seductive areas of their body for the public to see thereby putting themselves in danger such as rape, sexual harassment, etc

SOCIAL MEDIA

Social media platform has been a place where we get to know what is going on around us and world at large, where interaction of human interests are carried out globally, a platform where we get information of the things that will help us positively to build ourselves. But the youths of our time really have misplaced the real meaning of social media and what it's used for, they now use it to promote high level of sexual immorality, drug abuses, hate speech, fraudulent activities like cyber crimes,etc.

QUEST FOR MONEY

This is the highest of it all which are seen in the society amongst the youths, before now we can see old men driving expensive cars and own houses but now young men and women between the age bracket of 15yrs -25yrs of age now drive expensive cars, own houses and hotels, nobody questions their sources of wealth, in some cases even the parents go extra mile to pray and protect them to keep succeeding, without first asking and trying to know the real source of this sudden wealth. Most youths engage themselves in human rituals and sacrifices just to get rich quick and die young, some venture Into drug trafficking, prostitutions, Robbery, kidnapping, etc. These days you see a handful of youths who go for meaningful work or do legitimate business to make it in life. Buildings of skill and acquisitions centres recently have become a house where rats and lizards play their football matches.

ANTI-SOCIAL GROUP

Before now during the time of our parents there were age grades meetings and societal meetings of positive ideas and norms like villages meetings, church groups, etc where ideas and socital development topics are deliberated. Instead of following the footsteps of our parents, the youths of our time have joined anti social groups like cultism, robbery/kidnap gangs, etc, and this has resulted to increase in high death rate of youths in the society, increase of crime rate, increase in number of prison inmates who are youths, etc.

THE USE OT TECH-GADGETS.

Our parents never saw this increase of technology devices in their own time as youth but it didn't deform who they were and it never affected their way of life style, the introduction and increase of technology use in our time were to make make life easier and add more meaning to our lives, where you can be able to see the whole world at the comfort of your room. But instead of following the trend, youths of today have really allowed this great technological innovations to take control of them, not having the ability to think out good ideas from the box, too lazy to maximize the usefulness of the technology, focusing on the screen on their gadgets achieving nothing at the end of the day, etc. All these points and more are what changes us from the way our parents lived in the past.

CONCLUSION.

These point can not be fully emphasized because it's really what is eating up the now society to destruction from the beautiful society our parents once had. We can make it work again if only we can ask ourselves personal questions most especially the youths of our time where we all got it wrong. A society can not succeed without the youths active participation in their environment and it's when the youth in a society is fully aware of its need to be proactive, stay focused, work hard, be productive and do the right thing at any given time then our world will be a better place you and I.
