The Power of Service

Can helping with a task really be an expression of love? Of course it can! Our mothers served us from day one, feeding us, clothing us and taking care of our every need.

Sometimes Love is synonymous with relieving another person's personal burden. Actions that help in the day-to-day life of those closest to you. Actions speak louder than words, Phrases like "Let me do this for you", "Can I help you?" can be a breath of fresh air in your relationship.

On the other hand, laziness, broken commitments and causing more work than necessary for your loved ones could bring discord into the relationship. When others serve you out of love (and not out of obligation), you feel truly valued and loved.

One of the best ways to feel loved emotionally is to communicate, if we have the ability to express what makes us feel loved and also make a request rather than a demand or criticism, you can be sure that you are on your way to building an Extraordinary Relationship.

You can make a list of your partner's requests to understand what the priority acts of service are. Think back to what he or she has been asking you for years and you will find the most urgent acts.

Take note of the following tips:

1. Surprise your partner by doing some household chore that he or she usually does.

2. If he or she asks you to do something, do it. Don't wait for her to repeat it back to you.

3. Get up half an hour earlier or go to bed half an hour later to spend that time doing chores around the house.

4. Make dinner, and don't forget to clean up the kitchen after cooking.

5. Consider an action you can do for someone your partner loves (parents, siblings, friends).

Acts of service represent being willing to help do a chore, relieve a workload, or prepare a meal. Remember that service at home is a Powerful Communicator of Love.

This holds true not only between partners but even members of the family. And you are so right when you said that when someone offers to do something for you, then you truly feel valued. I n the same way that when something is done as an obligation, it does not feel like an act of love.
