Tumbang Preso is also known as Tumba lata, or otherwise Bato lata, and it has maintained its popularity over the years. The fabulous sport has been passed from generation to generation because of the fun and creativity derived from it.

What is Tumbang Preso?

Tumbang Preso is a unique traditional game in the Philippines that is favorite among Filipino children. The name of this sport is derived from the Filipino words Tumba, which means 'to fall' and preso, which means 'prisoner', translating to 'fallen prisoner'.

The game is played on backyards, streets, and open areas. It borrows elements from Tag and Dodge-ball to inculcate in those who play it strategic thinking and agility.

What is Luksong Tinik?

Luksong Tinik literally means “jumping over thorns” in English. It’s a group game of two teams. Each team is composed of an equal number of players. The players choose their respective nanay (mother). While the rest of the team members call themselves anak (children).

It is good for the kids to have physical activities at a young age. It's better than using gadgets all day staying at home.

Yes indeed I agree with that buddy, however we can't deny that mostly of the kids nowadays are having more time spending on gadgets and even have social media at a very young age. That's is just soo sad to think that's they may also do not know that these games do exist. I hope there are parents who will remind their children.

When I read this, I immediately missed being a child. In the past, children were always outside to play. The kids were active then and agile. I miss those times. Right now, it's just sad that most young people today don't play those.

That's true. That is one of the disadvantages of technology. The children do not have exercise now unlike before. They are too focused on gadgets.

yes. thank you for your suggestions. i am trying to do that as much as possible. i do permit them to use gadgets but limited only for a couple of hours. I always make sure we have family bonding.
