What are your goals in life?
What do you want to achieve?
The only way you can achieve anything is if you know what you want. The more committed you are to achieving something the more focused you are, the more you are willing to sacrifice, the greater your chance of success.
You have to decide what you want, how much you are willing to sacrifice, what is important to you and what you value most in life.
In the quest for self-improvement, it’s easy to lose sight of the things that matter most to us.
This is what I have learned in life. To work on yourself, you need to have a group of friends who have known you for a long time, know your strengths and weaknesses, are honest with you, tell you the truth about yourself.
These are the friends who can come up without fear, to tell you that you are awesome, awesome! That day the way you look, you are awesome! The way you are talking today, awesome! The way you are working today is awesome! It is not what they say that matters to me. What matters is how much they love you.
The biggest problem with human beings is that they are always caught up in the present.
We are always busy. Always. We are always busy thinking about what we have to do or what we have to say or what they have to talk about. We are always busy making money, saving money, spending money, thinking about how to spend it, earning more of it, worrying about how to spend it.
And if we do manage to spend some time doing something else, it's only because we are too tired to think anymore.
But is there anything more important than working on yourself?
There is not.
It is the only way you can make your dreams come true. It is the only way you can be happy. And it is the only way you can make sure that you are not wasting your life on stuff that doesn't matter.
Everyone knows that they need to work on themselves. But, let’s be real, working on yourself is hard and we’re all very bad at it.
One way we can all work on ourselves is to first and foremost be aware of what we’re choosing to invest our time and energy into.
This awareness is often called self-monitoring.
Being self-aware helps us put aside our worries about the past and our fears about the future. It allows us to focus only on the things we care about. Mindfulness helps us be honest with ourselves and within that honesty, we can gain valuable insights and see new opportunities.
We all have a dream to do something big, learn a new skill or craft, or even change the world. We all have one thing in common – we want to be the best version of ourselves. This can be a tough goal, but with a little help from the right people, it’s not as impossible as you think. When you work on yourself, you’re working on your dreams.
The first thing you need is a mentor…
Okay, now that’s easier said than done. What do you think a good mentor looks like? How do you know if someone would be a good mentor for you? How do you approach someone and let them know that you need help to achieve your goals?
In the words of Oprah Winfrey, “Be glad of what you have; You’ll end up having more.
