The best cross-country ski trails in Slovenia

Although cross-country skiing is a fairly complex sport, it is suitable for people of all ages, and the first steps are not very difficult. Because we use the muscles of the whole body during exercise, it is considered one of the healthiest forms of recreation and is one of the most popular winter activities among Slovenians. Therefore, we checked below where you can also put on your cross-country skis and try your hand at cross-country skiing.

Pokljuka The mentioned world championship is currently taking place in Pokljuka, where there is a nicely arranged biathlon - running center. On more than 30 kilometers of regularly maintained cross-country ski trails, both pure beginners and clear professionals can try their hand. They offer sports equipment rental and various schools.

Bohinj With favorable snow conditions, more than 70 km of cross-country ski trails are arranged in Bohinj. In addition to cross-country trails on Pokljuka, groomed cross-country ski trails are also waiting for you on Soriška planina and in the lower and upper Bohinj valley. As elsewhere, they also offer sports equipment rental and the possibility of a cross-country skiing school.

Planica Although when you mention Planica, you probably first think of ski jumping, there are as many as 40 kilometers of cross-country trails waiting for you in the mentioned area. You can go skiing all the way from Kranjska Gora, through Rateče and Planica to Tamar. You can rent all the equipment in the Nordic center Planica, and they also offer a cross-country ski school.

Rogla Recreation in idyllic winter nature is also possible on the cross-country trails on Rogla. In the Rogla cross-country center, there are as many as 24 kilometers of groomed trails, where beginners, recreational enthusiasts, as well as top athletes will find something for themselves. The start-finish arena, suitable for learning and practicing beginners, is located just a few meters from the Natura Hotel, where you can refresh yourself, store your equipment or relax in the wellness center.

Jezersko Did you know that the people of Jezera ran and organized cross-country skiing competitions long before alpine skiing? With a suitable amount of snow, 15 kilometers of carefully groomed trails await you in Jezersko, where you will be able to run through meadows on the flat part of Zgornji Jezerski, from Planšarsko Lake to the end of the valley at the Ancelj tourist farm.
