What next after the pursuit?
“Rise or fall doesn’t matter, if you've helped a few people.”
Just a few hours remaining and we have gone through 31 days in July. This month is really fast in my eyes because I still remembered when we entered a new month and it was a beautiful day. Right now, we would be wishing everyone another happy new month of August.
God has been faithful, isn't it? To me, I couldn't have asked more from Him after being given His grace, mercy, provision, goodness, safety etc. What else do I need again? He gave me everything I needed. Should I talk about the opportunities of earning and being lucky?
Should I talk about those beautiful friends He brought to my path? Should I talk about those times I have been blessed? What about you? Are you grateful?
Let's move to the topic for today before I digress too much. Happy Sunday, everyone 🥳
For today's article, I would be taking us into a story of a rich young ruler in the Bible.
Note that I called him “A rich young ruler”. This means he was so rich and wealthy and had everything in his possession because the Bible confirmed that he was a wealthy man.
I believe he was troubled in his heart as he need something more in his life but was confused.
He asked Jesus what he must do to inherit heaven. Jesus told him to abide by the commandments which were staying away from adultery, stealing, killing, backbiting etc.
And this young man replied saying all of these, he has stayed away from right from his youthful age.
What then is missing in his life?
Jesus confirmed again that something was missing in his life and when he asked what that thing was? Jesus said, “Go and sell your possession and give to the poor”.
We all crave success and want to achieve our dreams and aims in life. In a situation whereby you have gotten everything you need. You have money, good health and a good relationship with God etc. What else? You would ask!
What else do I need when God has been added to my achievement?
Just like the young ruler, just one thing was missing apart from him being wealthy and having it all. He might also have a good relationship with God, seeing how he spoke to Jesus and even followed all the commandments.
That one thing that was missing was Generosity.
He was asked to sell his stuff and share among the poor. He was saddened as he didn't want to lose it all, but he has forgotten the one who made him wealthy.
This is the problem of many people. We all want everything to ourselves alone without stretching our hands to help others, especially the poor.
The truth is that we can never have peace of mind if we don't help people who need help.
Yes, we have everything in our possession, but not helping people and not showing generosity can never bring peace to you.
After our pursuit in life, and generosity is still lacking, you are only deceiving yourself because even the Bible says that those who have something and do not give to those who need it would be cursed by the people. So, we must seek and go after teaching ourselves how to be generous to other people.
Without showing generosity, everything we have is nothing to us and wouldn't mean anything at all until we realize that there are people who are created for us to help them.
Not everyone would be wealthy or rich but those who have it all and shares it with others would be blessed abundantly.
Give and it shall be given unto you. This is very true because it is always more blessed to give than to receive.
Showing generosity comes with love. You can't give to people if you don't love them. So without much emotion, your mind will never allow you to help others who are in need.
So, in our daily lives and after achieving all that we wanted including having God and most importantly, good health, let's not forget to be a giver and help others so we can also be helped.
Do not have it all and withhold everything in your possession. Share with others and you will have peace and gain the good heart of God.

Sometimes showing generosity is what makes someone's day.
