The first question; "can you explain to me what the difference is between those who "went to get fortified" and those who go to church, get baptized and pray to gain protection and power?"

You are saying I shouldn't refer to the Bible but this question takes me to the Bible, anyway, here is my answer

"The difference between both is that those who goes to fortify themselves in a wrong way or engaging in illegal stuff and want to be fortified so they don't get caught will one-day be caught and the power becomes useless because their motive is bad. Note that if you are using the power in a positive and good way, it is possible to be protected because you aren't making it to hurt other people. Those who go to church , get baptized are also likely to be protected because they believe in Christ Jesus who is able to save them which is very true".

The second question: "why someone not believing in the power of your god and savior but believing in the words and the power of a herbalist going to a herbalist to gain strength and help is bad

while you,

not believing in the power and the words of the herbalist but do believing in the power and the words of your god go to church to gain strength and help is good?"

My answer is the same to the first answer. There are some good and bad herbalists. You don't believe the word of a bad herbalists because it doesn't last and cannot be relied upon. Both good and bad herbalists do not have the final say but only God.

Even the Bible says only if we believe in the name of Jesus would we cast out demons and powers. Same miracle Jesus did while he was on Earth then, we also would do it if we believe in Him. We can also see this happening with the true anointed men of God i.e pastors, evangelists and even someone who isn't in that line but believe strongly in the word of God.

Now i'd like to maybe clarify the reasoning that spawned my questions so to enable you to understand my view clearer.

Just for clarity, but i don't think you didn't catch it already, i am an Atheist myself. Simply stated my religious view is that we, as in the human species, have developed knowledge and technology with which we can say what happened in this Universe as well as explain why and how it happened, everything (literally) from a millionth of a millionth of a millionth of a second after the big bang right up to now, and predict almost everything that will happen for billions of years into the future. In that, the telling, the explaining and the predicting, there is no need or benefit for a phenomenon like god, a supreme being who is omnipotent and has a plan in which he has a purpose for us.

And from my perspective the basic functionality of going to a herbalist, asking for a monk's blessing, turning to a paranormal medium and praying for the purpose of gaining strength or protection are exactly the same thing. You're believing, or trusting, an outside of your self and your control source to be able to give you the strength, and protection, that you need or want to get, and not able to provide for yourself.

It amazes me how much also the opinion of and denouncement of any form of getting this strength an protection other than that sanctioned by the individual's personal belief as bad, evil and sinful, not to mention very unwise and deserving of punishment,is the same across religions and ideologies. Muslims. Christians, Hindu, Scientologists and many other religious people all have the same view, that turning anywhere else but the own approved and preferred source is a sin, which should be addressed and punished.

All religious people, in the same way, turn to their scripture for their motivation for it and explanation of it. Muslims will turn to the Qur'an, Christians to the Bible, Hindus to the Veda and so on.

The quote of his postulation is this:

I would be fascinated and love to hear what your reaction is to this quote. Do you agree with the questions and the conclusions drawn from them? If not, i'd love to learn why. Do you hate the quote, and if so what do you think should be about it?

First of all, God is omnipotent (He has unlimited power and the Almighty). Right from the creation and before we were born, Satan the devil was also an Angel in heaven before he tried to outsmart God but he could not. God was angry with him and denounce him among angels and sent him away. Satan started his own kingdom as a deceitful and wicked one who wants to lure People to himself. We all know God to be pure and good while Satan is evil. For those who believes in God, He saves and prevent them from evil. He is also merciful to save those who are still sinner and give them a second chance to change their old ways of life into a new one. I will end by saying God is willing and able because He doesn't want every of his creation (you and I ) to perish. This is why He sent His son Jesus to die for our sins.

Okay, this reply, while passionate and praising, Only gets us into part of Epicurus's postulation. If we go with your conviction that god is Omnipotent, we must conclude that god is able.

The remainder of your reply unfortunately does not help us in regard to Epicurus's postulation, other than maybe than casting inconsistency over the assertion that God is omnipotent. Because Satan as an Angel tried to outsmart God, as you say.

Trying to outsmart someone could be called Evil. Certainly what comes forth out of that attempt (Satan cast out, starting his kingdom and being CEO of evil since) are most certainly very evil.

Apparently God either could not prevent Satan from trying to outsmart God or God was able to prevent that but chose not to, and wasn't willing to prevent Satan from trying to outsmart him.

Your vehement and passionate declaration God is omnipotent though would then lead to the one possible conclusion. We have the fact that God could prevent Evil. We have also the fact that, as Evil exists, God did not prevent Evil.

God was able to prevent evil, but he did not, He must have not wanted to prevent it. Because if he wanted to prevent Evil there would not be evil.

I cannot escape the conclusion that God, who'm has your unconditional love. trust and worship, is Malevolent. The best i can make of it is that at the moment he did not prevent Evil he was malevolent.

That is the most troubling possible conclusion in Epicurus's postulation in my experience.

Because in my mind the next image would be of my 3-year-old nephew, dying from a rare genetic disease and having known 3 days without pain, or sickness in his life. Those were the days he spent in a coma before he died! Because God could, but did not, prevent Evil.

I can not sufficiently express how much i fear an omnipotent, malevolent God, that is loved, worshiped and trusted unconditionally by Billions, and rightfully so!

I therefore prefer that none of the conclusions in Epicures's postulation is right.

Your last reply makes it clear you absolutely will not, or can not, reason or consider anything that is not the highest praise of God and Love for the Lord. Instead, your mind can or will only quote scripture snippets that make you feel powerful because you are a good Christian.

You could probably never change my mind, either, as that would take something other than the Bible. (read 3 versions of the Hebrew Bible, two of the Old-Testament and the New Testament, studied the Qur'an with specific interest in the Old-Testament related Soera, I have read part of the RigVeda. Its doubtful you can find a quote that i do not know, much less convince me of something.)

Please understand that these last two paragraphs aren't in any way meant as an attack, insult, or in a conflicting manner. The opposite in fact, as i wanted to explain that while i would love to have more talks, discussions and debates with and about religion (any) it is better for us that we agree that we do not agree and both be fine with that.

Yes, I am not disputing the fact that powers do not exist, they exist but does it last?
