A Recipe for Writing: Write Post and Marinate for 48-72 Hours

I am new to read.cash, but I am not new to writing, and I am certainly not new to writing platforms. I have been on several in the past. Some good, some not so good. But that is always the case, isn't it?

I can write fast, and I can write a lot. But what I have found is that this isn't necessarily a good thing for most of the platforms that I have been on. For one thing, even if I develop a good number of subscribers at some point, I have to keep in mind that I am not the only writer that they have subscribed to.

And obviously I write things because I want people to be able to read them. Otherwise why bother, right?

The thing is, I want to give my readers a chance to actually see my post. I want my post to marinate a bit, if you will. I want the post to be able to breathe.

If I post too many times in a single day, or even try to post every single day, the chances that my post gets lost in the muck of all of the other writers clamoring for eyes is pretty good.

The chance that my readers tire of me if I post too much is also fairly good.

Let's face it, not everything I have to say is going to be interesting to everyone anyway, and if all I am doing is writing as much as I can, hoping to simply land as many eyes as fast as I can hoping to simply cash in, I am really just wasting my time and yours.

So, I need to space things out a bit. Things will have a way of working themselves out, and the eyes that want to see what I write will be there when I want them to be there.

Partly because they will most likely be able to find my posts easier. And they'll actually have time to read what I write if they want to.

We are sort of being paid here to do what we do, and so I also want to get the most bang out of the time I spend writing anything down if there is a bang to be had.

Writing is easy. But it is also hard. It can be time consuming. Some posts you just kind of write willy nilly because you can, and things don't have to be as perfect as possible. Like this one. Others you want to take a bit more time and care with.

If I let a post sit a bit and catch more eyes, can the post make more money?

Maybe.

Is it all for the money? No. Not really. I write because I like to write. The money is just an added bonus. But it still matters.

If I let a post sit a bit and catch more eyes, has the post been more worthwhile to even write?

You bet it is.

Sometimes for me the best reward isn't even the few pennies my post might earn. It's the time people take to leave a nice, thoughtful comment that lets me know they read it, and even enjoyed what they read.

I have kind of suggested that I have a schedule, or even a process for determining when I hit the publish button for the next post in line to hit the airwaves, so to speak.

Perhaps it is a number of views, a number of days, a certain dollar amount, an amount of comments.

None of that is true.

I mean, I will watch the traffic a bit, and if I determine it has fizzled out or run its course, I can draw the conclusion that the recent life cycle of the post is done for the moment, and then decide to post something new.

I also know, based on past history on other platforms that this life cycle is probably about 2 or 3 days. In other words, after a certain period of time you can pretty much determine that anyone who wanted to read the post has already read it, and keeping it up longer before posting the next one is probably futile.

Even on noise.cash I make it a point to space my posts at the very minimum about two hours apart.

I am not suggesting anyone has to work their posts this way. Or even that it is the best way. Do what you do, and what you feel works best for you, and what you feel most comfortable doing.

Ultimately it's the readers who will make the call whether what you are doing is good or bad. The content, the frequency, and whatever other things that might matter.

But I have also come to these ideas as my best way based on what I have learned from observing how my readers interact with me and my posts as well in my many years of doing this.

I want to write and have fun, and I want my readers to also have fun. Writing or reading should never feel like work. It should never feel like an obligation.

This may be the dumbest analogy ever, but I am going to go through with it anyway. If I am Burger King do I want you to come in here every single day and devour my hamburgers, and become fat and bloated and suffer heart disease?

No. I'd much prefer you come in from time to time to really get that treat you have been craving for, and enjoy it like something you want to eat, instead of something that has been force fed down your throat just because I am hungry for your money and you are feeling obligated to eat it.

ॐ I start with this. Ok, so here is the comment.

I was wondering how you really enjoyed writing long article!

I actually very much enjoy writing, and have been doing it for a very long time. It just sort of comes naturally for me. That is not to say it is necessarily easy. But I find a lot of peace and joy in the "work" part of writing.

I agree that writing and reading should be something we need to enjoy, do it for enjoyment not because you just have to. I am honestly here for more bch at first, but as someone who loves writing, knowing that many read and appreciate my works makes me write more.

I will only say it this way. I am here for the writing part first, because it is something I really enjoy doing, and I am going to do it whether I am paid or not. God knows I blogged for enough years without a single penny to show for it. lol.

But the BCH is a super nice little bonus.

That being said, I like that the Random Rewarder has found me, and is kind to me for the most part. And I do not want him to unfind me of course. But the REAL paydirt comes from the readers and their comments and interactions with whatever I post here.

Lately I have been spacing my articles for longer than 1 day. Am checking to see if there's any change/effect at all.

Over time I am sure I will be rethinking this. I only base my thoughts on my experiences on other platforms. So far it seems to work well, but only time will tell I suppose. It is fun, in any event, to experiment a little bit.

I am actually experimenting a bit with a recent short post. :)

I personally can't produce interesting articles every day. Or even if it is interesting to read, I wouldn't be proud of it.

Haste makes waste (at least for me)

So if I publish something hastily, I remember more points that I should've added.

Granted, we have the edit button, but what about the readers who read it before I thought of that point?

I have days when I can write two or three in a day and others where either I don't have the time or nothing comes to mind. I just think flooding the site and my readers with too much all at once is too much, and hurts the potential of anything I write.

But of course each platform is different, and I am still learning my way around what works best on read.

Are you happy with all your articles?

Not everyone can write it's a great skill and blessing of God that you write so fast.

The only problem I run into some times is that my mind works faster than my fingers, so I have to spend more time editing. lol

An interesting cooking analogy for writing articles. My process seems to be: mix thoughts - let it marinate - write - let it simmer for a bit - let people serve themselves!

This is actually not a bad way of looking at it. Marinated food always tastes better. Why would a post that gets to sit a bit for more people to get a chance to see not do better? An ongoing experiment. lol

while i want to write everyday, I won't have a lot of topics to write so if the inspiration kicks in, i'd grab that opportunity to write and post...

While I do like "freewriting," I usually prefer to write the post, give it a couple of days, and then go back and reread it and edit it. Just a part of my process. But I usually always have three to five articles ready to just hit the publish button. But I still like to space those out as well even if they are fully "ready to go."

I'm not that fast writing since I'm doing it in English. I take my time to review what I write. Maybe if I write in Spanish, l could write an article a day. But we also have to give our readers time. Here there is a lot to read. And of those who write every day, there are few to whom I try to read each day.

Also, the robot lately is rewarding posts for up to 3 days. And I don't know if they are my ideas or not, but if you publish leaving at least one day in between, the average number of tips from the robot is a little better than when you publish days in a row. I don't know if it's a coincidence in my case, or the excuse I have for not making an effort to publish every day, but it's has some sense.

I have experienced the same too! I wrote three days straight, but those articles didn't do well compared to when I gave them a space of two days.

I am actually glad you made that observation. I am still unsure of how it works here. Just basing things on other platforms. But I am not sure why what worked in other platforms would not apply here as well.

An ongoing experiment I suppose.

Hmm. That makes it more interesting. I am taking this as two votes to space posts out a bit. Helpful. :)

I hear ya, loud and clear :D Writing has somehow made us realize many things we probably didn't care in the past. There are days when writing is so damn easy that the words just flow through the fingertips. Other days are simply blank. I think that is one of its beauty though, it makes us yearn for improvement and learning. And marinating your post for 48-72 hours might be good, I haven't tried since I started the "1-article-a-day" practice :)

I wish I could write as fast as you, lol! Writing is not my forte, I am here to earn but in the long run I enjoyed it. Reading others POV in a certain topic interests me. And I also gain a circle of friends here. One article a day is good for me. My readers might get tired of reading them if I post 3 to 4 times a day.

I guess I have just been writing so long that is just comes natural to me. I could probably post more than I do. But I like to let things have a chance to breathe a bit. Just my thing.

Writing is not easy, before to write is always difficult for me, not that I don't write but I don't give myself chance to write But Since I joined this platform writing has been my favorite.

I guess I can consider myself lucky that for me writing is just a natural process. It comes very easy for me.
