Sandra fans her face with her hands as she sits out front on her balcony one summer Sunday afternoon. It has been getting hot and hotter each day lately. She had her brown hair in a bun now. She wiped a sweat that trickled down her nape and just allowed another trail of sweat from the right of her temple down the side of her face.
She sighed. She reached out for her glass of lemonade she placed in front of the small table and took one gulp. Letting the juice stay inside her mouth for a bit before letting it flow. She felt the cold liquid fill her with a little coolness albeit temporary. She also felt her teeth ache a bit.
She watched the kids in the house in front of her house playing in their garden sprinkler. Their squeals and laughter made her smile. Oh, to remain a child and care free of the bills! She heard their mom warning them about running too fast and may end up being in the street in their excitement and they might get hit by the passing cars.
She remembered summer days back home in the Philippines. Like those kids out in their yard, she and her friends used to not care about the heat of the summer sun. That was years ago. The earth is a bit healthier then. They did not have a yard and a sprinkler then but they did go hang out in some one else's place where ventilation is better.
They would sit there and also wait for the 3pm man with the bell and his cart of "dirty ice cream". Ah, that bell! How she would want to hear that bell again and be excited with the refreshment that goes with it.
Her mind flew off to wondering how the invention of the bell is quite a genius. It really does catches your attention.
She is thinking now, "ice cream". But the usage of bell has come a long way.
She remembers stories told to her when she was younger. Stories she heard.
In some villages, there is a bell in the middle of their village. It is to serve as an alarm - of fire, threat of war, etcetera.
One that she liked was that of Emily Dickinson's father. It was a story of a man, who, during one sun down, ran hurriedly to the middle of the village. By that time, everyone was already inside their houses preparing for supper. This man, however, saw something that caught his attention.
In glee, he rang the village bell and got everyone out of their houses alarmed and well ready to help out in putting out the fire. But there was no house burning down. There as a fire in the sky so beautiful he got so excited with how it is quite a show that he wanted to share it with everyone else. He wants everyone to see it and be as overwhelmed. Sunset.
Ah, the beauty of nature!
She laughed as she recalled the story. It would be sun down, soon, too. From her spot, she will be able to see the beautiful sunset. She had her camera ready for that one - already facing where her app predicted the sun will be setting.
Should she find a bell to ring and have her neighbors share also what she is about to witness?
What is your story?

Today, we don't need to ring a bell but instead captured it and share it here or any social media. In that way, we share the beauty of nature to others. But still nothing compares by seeing and witnessing it in person.
