Does it happen to you? You just suddenly thought of a film you have seen before then you start replaying it in your head but only some portions?
I got two in my head right now :
Begin Again
Beauty and the Beast
I had to pause from typing every once in a while. I had to see clips of both and scrubbing back to repeat the portions I like.
Why these two? For this part, I got to be honest. I have no idea. Maybe because they are both musical? Well, partly. But let us get to the bits and pieces that I liked in both films.
Check these awesome wonderful people! My inspiration circle.. ;)
They have magic!
BEGIN AGAIN
My mind keeps bringing me back to Begin Again. Have you seen that movie? Mark Ruffalo, Kiera Knightley, Adam Levine and other stars? That movie with the song "Lost Stars"? Never mind. This is not a movie review, anyway.
The portion I liked in this movie is when Kiera Knightley picks up her guitar and sings in the same bar where Mark Ruffalo, an ex-producer was getting himself drunk after losing his job.
She started with telling the audience what the song is about. Then she started singing the first stanza. Ruffalo is bent leaning on the bar with his face almost touching the surface but his head is turned towards Kiera's direction. Being a musical producer, he's got ears. So he cringes a bit but at the second part of the song, "A Step You Can't Take Back", he sits upright slowly. With his head bob timing Kiera's song, the drums' hi hat started to play on its own. The other instruments followed adding life to Kiera's performance but this is only happening in Ruffalo's head. I was amazed at how that part got from script to the film strip. That script, musical arrangement, and then how it appears on screen got to me. Fun!
Of course, there are other parts of the story that is fun - their crew recording in the open - busking and recording and escaping authorities.
Beauty and the Beast
To most your favorite part could be when Beast finally became who he is - the happy ever after part. Or that part where the main song was sung and Beast and Belle danced to it. But to me, the most striking part is the "Be Our Guest" portion led by the awesome candlestick Lumière. Everything has life in that part. Their curse after all is that they become household items with life. That, too is a cool part to me.
It is a cartoon. Everything is possible in a cartoon. Yes but that possibility, too, was written first. From thoughts penned to paper and then to the drawing board and to film. Fun.
...err...Ending my Nonsense...
Both clips are magical to me. MAGICAL! Not rabbit in a hat magic.. but magic. Worked on by words - written words.
I am currently staring at my work chair. And in few taps. I can say that it starts to turn and roll forward. Now.. THAT is scary! Well, depending on how you imagined that.
The best magic wand ever was the pen when it started weaving words and building the reader's imagination.
As for us, the magic is at our fingertips. So go find an object and bring it to life ..
Tap tap tap tap that keyboard! :) Quoting Uncle Ed with what he tells me a lot of times @TengoLoTodo Magic is everywhere...
There is another film I like.. Finding Forrester but let us do that for another time.
Hello my fellow Read-itizens! This Thursday is by far, the slowest and excruciating Thursday there is. I am not sure if that makes sense. But it felt that way. But still praises to God for Thursday is ending and yay, I am alive and well.
