I never thought this verse will have an additional impact and perspective any more than it seems fit to use during birthdays and New years.
Around this time of the year, I'm normally stargazing somewhere far from the city with at least two of my travel buddies. While contemplating life, work, and plans, my heart would be singing "Indescribable" by Chris Tomlin. Uberly praising God for another year.
For two years now, that has been considered "paused". Suddenly, the calendar gets wiped off of much-planned agendas. Can Proverbs 16:9 ever be more realistic? And on a global scale even.
It was not just our travels that got affected but also our work and regular socialization. Suddenly, I cannot hug my friends. Coffee dates and pig-out sessions were gone. Then going to church became limited (and close to none) as well.
Actually, for me being introverted and selectively social, this is supposed to be easy. Or so I thought.
Navigating glitchy 2020 was tolerable until the 3rd and 4th quarter - until the names of those who get infected and those who passed away are people you know. And you cannot do anything - even be physically there for comfort.
I am astounded by the thought that the good old days were borrowed times.
That today is borrowed also.
And while we are looking back at the old comfortable days, navigating and adjusting to the now, and looking forward to new normal, let us dwell and bask in the beauty of today.
Find beauty. Find wisdom.
We can be waking up in an entirely different scenario after all.
