I find myself smiling every once in a while today since last night after a zoom call with friends. These friends were not just friends friends but we've shared our lives deeply. One friend opted to honor, Erica through our zoom meet. This was just the second time we had a zoom meet during the pandemic.
We celebrated the life of our friend, let's put in a name, Erica. She will be celebrating her thirty something birthday in few days time. We've been friends since she's around second year or third year college.
I remember text messages of prayer requests being exchanged between us covering her exams, her terror teachers, etcetera. Then prayers about the kids we were guiding and the ministry we were both involved in.
Funny and heartwarming how God sends people your way, right? Over time I have learned that most times, people we form friendships with - temporary or not - are always a gift to us and we are also a gift to them. Erica is not a temporary friend I know she is one of them I can keep for a lifetime.
No dull moments with that kid. Ever since I joined in on the ministry, our shared lives have been knitted with lots of humor even during serious talk. I like light souls who can bring in insights and lessons smoothly. Who can correct your thoughts and re-align your ideas with love that you would not feel a scratch at all. I am way older than her but her wisdom does not match her age. There really is something about spending time with God everyday and doing your own research about Him. You get equipped properly to minister to others even someone not same age as you.
I am very much thankful for her life. There was a moment in our family that she super understood what we were going through. She has been my dump bag that time and each time the load felt lighter.

I think it is just at this right time that I continue this honor piece. But this time along with the other members of that zoom call. There were four of us in that zoom call. This was written around September during the birthday of Girl 1. Girl 2 initiated the call and the games and the program. Girl 3 hosted the zoom meeting. And me, Girl 4, participated (hahahha).
These were some of the questions from @meitanteikudo 's prompt from this article. I will be bending some requirements though. No pictures. Sorry.
When, where, and how did you guys meet?
We met at church. "When" I cannot trace back. How. Well they were the youth then I was new and they were the crazy sensible ones. You know those kids at church who can be serious sometimes but most likely will not take anything seriously.
What was your first impression of each of them?
Each of them. Impression. Girl 1 is bubbly. Girl 2 is one tough cookie. Girl 3 is very shy.
Did you think that you could be friends?
Not really. I guess they are that one pack that dared to keep up with my ever so grumpy aura. I am grumpy in person. Lols. Scratch that. Let's say I'm not the type who interacts too much specially in a new crowd.
what's the most memorable moment you had with them? Or each of them.
I've been on a mission exposure trip with Girl 2 along with another two friend of ours. With Girl 2 and Girl 1 we visited Samar. With everyone, we went to La Union for the start of the year personal retreat. That was refreshing.
if you could do life over and choose your friends, will you choose them again?
Oh definitely.
Oh yeah got that there!
What is your story?
