What happens to your body when you quit eating sugar
You lose weight!
When you cut out processed foods and replace them with whole food, you’ll start losing weight. Sugar is a common ingredient in processed foods and it’s packed with empty calories. When you stop consuming sugar, you start burning fat instead.
Your skin gets softer
Sugar causes inflammation in your body, including your face. Inflammation makes your skin look duller and less radiant. If you want soft-looking skin, then you have to avoid sugar.
Your hair starts looking healthier.
Your body uses sugar to create serotonin, a hormone that regulates mood. Serotonin levels in your brain go down after you eat sweets, causing depression. Eating fewer sugary foods means having higher serotonin levels, making you feel happier and more focused.
Your teeth get whiter
The white stuff that sticks around between your teeth isn’t just bacteria—it’s also dead cells. When you consume refined sugar, the cells break down faster than they should, leaving behind gunk that looks yellowish. By cutting out sugar, you’re helping your mouth stay fresh and clean.
Your eyes become brighter
You probably know that sugar makes your blood sugar spike, which triggers hunger. But did you know that it also affects your eyes? As soon as you eat sugar, your pupils dilate. Dilated pupils make everything look darker, even though you’re outside under bright sunlight. Cutting back on sugar helps keep your vision clear.
You sleep better at night
If you wake up feeling groggy and tired, it could be because you ate something sweet before bedtime. A study published in Chronobiology International revealed that those who consumed a sugary snack before going to bed had lower melatonin levels (a hormone that promotes sleep) than people who didn’t eat anything before bed. Melatonin production increases when you get enough sleep, so if you don’t sleep well, you won’t produce enough melatonin.
You’re more productive at work
It might not seem like it now, but quitting sugar could actually help you do your job better. In a study conducted by researchers at Columbia University, participants were asked to complete two different tasks—one while drinking water alone, and another while drinking water mixed with glucose. The group that drank the mixture performed worse on both tasks. The scientists believe that the extra glucose caused the subjects to become distracted, slowing their performance.
wow, how bad was that. I need to stop consuming sugar as soon as possible
