Writer's Block

I wrote my first article here, a little over a week ago, and honestly, I've been struggling since then. I kept thinking "what do I write next". I was stuck, more so because I hope to always write about something exciting. It felt like there were no new ideas coming, no creativity flowing, no passion growing, and I just kept postponing this second article. However, I am glad I get to write to you again.

I never planned to write on Writer's Block (Creative Block really, because it happens to a lot of creatives), no. I had a totally different article planned out, but somehow, here we are.

Writer's Block could make you feel really terrible. You just can't seem to write at the same level that you believe you would ordinarily. It's that point in your creative journey that you just seem stuck. You can't seem to do anything new. If you're not strong, or passionate, it could make you believe writing (or whatever creative field you delve into) is not meant for you, but don't worry, you're good. You're just experiencing what arguably every creative has experienced, or will experience at some point.

Good for you Writer's Block is beatable. I am going to give you some tips on how you could beat Writer's (Creative) Block; and hopefully, after you're done reading, you have just what you need to break through the Block.

1. Get Started

So, this first tip seems pretty ironic. I know, "I'm having issues writing, and the cure is supposed to be writing?" Doesn't sound like much help does it? But in fact, getting started might just be what you need. Sometimes, you just have to go with the flow. Honestly, it's how I started this article. I didn't know what I was going to write but I just started, and look how far we've xon already. Now, I know what I'm going to write in the next paragraph, and the next, and so on.

When you're stuck, and don't know what to write, just start writing, and keep going. Soon enough, you should start getting ideas on what to write next. Before you know it, you have a whole book, or essay, or article; just lime this one.

2. Take a Break

You don't want to push yourself too hard. If you don't know what to write, take a break, and just kick your feet up. Watch a movie, visit a friend, take a walk, and just enjoy yourself. Free your mind, don't think about work. Just be free. After you've relaxed, come back to work, and try again. You should do a better job than the first try.

3. Don't be too hard on yourself

I know it's really difficult to be "blank". Not having a clue on what to write, and you can't blame anyone but yourself; and sure enough, you do. But don't sweat it. You're not a failure, as you might be inclined to think. Every creative faces the same thing. Even the greatest creatives did. The thing is, they learned to keep pushing, and not let the blocks stop them.

Don't beat yourself up for something that's natural. It is not your fault. Allow yourself to not feel guilty. If anything, guilt hardens the "block".

4. Keep it Simple

Maybe the cause of your "block" is overcomplication. Sometimes after doing so great, we feel pressure to do better than our previous works, and this pressure could get to us. We feel the need to always do better, and anything short of "better" is worthless. This pressure however, is self-inflicted. In times like this, we just need to take it slow. Keep it simple. Don't try too hard, just try; and whatever you do, is good enough.

5. Be Real

Sometimes, we experience creative blocks because we're trying so hard to be like someone else, to create in a way that someone else would. In doing this, we often forget how to be ourselves, and how to create like ourselves. We lose value for our work. My advice, be you. Be Real. Do what you want, how you want it done, and in the end, appreciate your work because it's yours. No other person could do it the way you do, and that is far better than being a copycat.

That's all the tips I can share with you today. I hope they help you overcome your Block (whatever creative field you may be in).

Write again soon friend. (Hopefully I won't have any blocks next time😄).

Welcome to read cash. I think I get what you're saying here, overcoming the hurdle of a writer's block is difficult, but not when we change our approach to writing. You've given a few lovely tips and I can say they are fantastic. Nice meeting you
