Alex Maye is the only child and son of the Mayor of Penny Park. While he was eight years old, the mayor and his wife Monalisa in the company of Alex Maye traveled to their county home and left him with his grandparents so they could concentrate on their political life. Mayor Myles, having grown up in the county home saw many decadence among youth in the major city. He opined that to nurture a complete child, the city is the wrong place.
Alex grew up an upright young man, he was taught by his grandparent on how to handle situation and how not to engage in what could tarnish his image. He was told severally by grandma Berkeley that his attitude as a young man could make the name of his family or mar it. So, Alex grew up and lived as cautious as possible.
Grandpa Martins was a disciplinarian and would leave no stone unturned in teaching Alex what it takes to be a complete man. Some of the lessons he was taught included:
•Don't be a cheap man
A man has to be principled, else he would lose his integrity. Grandpa told him, not only ladies are cheap. And that not all ladies are cheap. A cheap man is one who goes for everything under-skirt. He told him the story of Prince Charles in the Buckingham Palace. When you keep yourself as a man, good and godly ladies are most probably going to seek your attention. So, Alex grew up nurturing his thoughts about the opposite sex. He had many female friends on the plater of academics and church.
The first class of sexuality education Alex ever had was giving by his grandparents. They told him, love is a sacred affection and that sex is a covenant between two parties that agree to bond. He was sternly warned never to think of involving in any romantic relationship before marriage. It displeases God, he was told. Alex kept all these in his left hand and would never eat with it.
•Take Responsibility
When an individual does what is wrong, the blame game is then played to cover tracks of his involvement. One day, Alex had done the dishes in the kitchen and forgot to put off the tap in the sink because he was to rush to the cyber cafe to attend to some online research with some other guys. Not long after, the water filled the sink and poured on the floor of the kitchen. He probably was too much in a rush that he forgot to put the tap off. When his grandparents woke up, they were dazed at the pool of water in the kitchen. They waited for Alex to return so he could clean up the mess but Alex, rather than apologize for the error, argued that he wasn't responsible for the error.
Grandpa was so bitter but he decided to talk it out softly with Alex.
When you do something, it could be in error, you should accept that you were wrong and apologize.
To make the sleeping dog lie, you need accept to be wrong when you are not, so that peace would reign.
After the soft talk, Alex felt so sorry to have argued blindly. He had regurgitated the event that culminated in the early hours of the day and how he was too much in a haste.
I am sincerely grandpa, grandma, please forgive me. Alex pleaded.
They both hugged him.
•Be Humble
Everyone has some sense of pride. It's common with humans. Anyone who allows pride to rule his or her thoughts is doomed. Pride goes before destruction. It appears that people who have nothing are more proud than those who do.
Grandpa continued while mum watched.
Humble people are not jealous of other people's achievement, they'd rather celebrate when other people are making progress. In the city, the competition is quite unhealthy amounting to the fall and raise of kingdoms and persons.
Alex had just encountered a very proud classmate whose father runs the most expensive restaurant in the county. Since Alex rarely talks of his father in the public, no one knows him as the son of a mayor. He was angrily going to mention it but in a second thought, he held back his anger and allowed the proud boy have his way.
Alex had become a complete man. A complete gentleman. He was quite gentle but wise. Calm and brilliant. Reserved but clever. On the day of his graduation from county high school, his father came in an entourage to honour his son in the company of his grandparents.
As they marched in, the audience never knew until that day. Alex was such a complete fashion of whatnot takes to be taught by people of the old school.
Morals
No matter the circumstance, a boy child can be a good example and become a quality father who will, in turn, bring up a good son, who in turn bring up a good boy and with that, the world becomes a good place to live in.
The place of a male child in the society is to become the pivot for a goodly character that helps to model the character pattern of the girls in the home and society at large.
