Sister Sister (2)
Good evening readers. Thi is the concluding part of this story. In case you missed the first part, you can read it up Here
Now that Joe and Ozzy had searched everywhere for her look-alike, Efulu and could not.locate her, they retired home.
Mama had been worried since Ozzy had related to her that she found a sister that was never introduced to her. So, mama decided to visit the local midwife who took her delivery twenty-six years ago.
As she was walking down with a heavy heart, crying without tears dripping from her cheeks, she found Ozzy. Then, she called out.
Ozzy! Ozzy!!
No response came. She began to contemplate that she just left Ozzy at home and that must be the girl in question that Ozzy was referring to.
While all this was going on in her mind, Efulu walked faster and disappeared into thin air.
Now she is rest assured that some explanations must be made, but from who does she ask? Can Ezinne the midwife give a concrete answer to her yearnings?
Few metres to the home of Ezinne, she met people crying, wailing. Some folded their hands across their chests but they weren't saying anything.
Mama approached with a deep bleeding heart. She approached Okolo, Ezinne's first son and asked after her mother. Then, his tears rolled down.
Mother died a few minutes ago. But she left a message for you.
Mama was more anxious about the message than the dead. She wanted to here from Okolo at all cost. She held him by the hand and dragged him to a corner of the house where no one will them.
Please, tell me what Ezinne asked you to tell me.
Okolo breathed heavily, then begin to say:
Mother asked me to tell you that she did it for the sake of love.
Mama could not bear the rhetoric. What did she do? Please, spill the beans.
That at delivery, you gave birth to a set of female twins. But her younger sister, my aunt, had been married for eight years without a child.
Mama could no longer bear it, she lifted herself and on the ground she landed. She wailed that everyone at the front of the yard ran towards them asking what the problem was.
Ezinne has killed me. She has finished me. What in God's name has she done to me.
Mourners now held her so that she doesn't hop again.
After a while when she was a little calm, two heft men who had come to mourn wit their friend were.made to accompany mama home.
She narrated everything that she was told to Joe and Ozzy. They couldn't say a word for a moment.
Joe was the one that broke the silence. As a law enforcement agent, he requested that the corpse be arrested until Efuru was found and confirmed to be the twin sister of Ozzy.
On the contrary, mama suggested that it would only cause more heartbreaks. She was of the opinion that the search for the late Ezinne's siter who was given the second twin child should be visited.
Mama called on two elders from her late husband's family to report the issue to them and to follow-up by visiting Ezinne's sister, Akudo in the city.
Mazi Obi and Odogolo went to the city but they were told that Adugo had left her husband several years ago and nothing had been heard of her again.
On return to Umuochi, they decided to get Efulu at all cost so that her mother can be traced.
Joe informed some detectives and they combed the nooks and crannies of Umuochi in search of Efulu.
One night, when the policemen were on parade, they saw a movement in the central abandoned facility. They surrounded they place and went in to search, just lying on a mattress, they saw Efulu and brought her out. That night they drove to mama's house with Efulu.
Once again, mama began to weep, touching Efulu all over body in measurement of her resemblance to Ozzy.
The two elders were called and Efulu led them with the police to another part where Akudo lives with another man.
It was there she confirmed before Efulu and the elders that Efulu was not her biological child but given to her by her elder sister who was a midwife on account that she did not have a child after about eight years in marriage.
The party returned home with Efulu and told mama that Efulu was her lost daughter who came back home.
On the day of Ozzy's wedding, Efulu acted as her bride's maid.
That what the do in hospital nowadays. Interesting story🙂
