Ride The Storm
Thirty-year-old Daniel had just secured a job offer far away from home. He was excited about his new job as a personnel manager in an oil and gas company. He had been on the search for a job for over three years until this came through miraculously. But that overwhelming gladness was quickly turned into confusion when the Managing Director of the company- a married woman- started making advances towards him.
with all due respect, ma, I am a child of God. I can't and will never do what you are asking for before God. I hope you respect my faith and wish.
Daniel would always repel her anytime she comes closes. Something she does anytime she is with him alone.
Some of the top officers in the company started to notice the seduction in her eyes towards Daniel. They were teasing him at the slightest opportunity.
c'mon bro, don't be too hard on yourself. You are a rare breed that's why she is coming for you. She is screening dying to have you, give her a chance.
Some of us would do anything just to be able to say "hi" to her. You need not miss this opportunity. Many other things are likely going to accrue to you. Boy O' boy, you had better bring on your A-game to the fore and be quick in taking the right decision.
This perching continued. Sometimes when Daniel is alone in his thought, he would think about the MD's unwanted attention and the push from his friends and colleagues at the office, but the thing that made him never give in to this unholy act was the advice of his mother:
My son, you are God's image and representative wherever you go. Do not bow to pressure to fall into sin. And don't follow the crowd to do what is wrong.
These words keep ringing in her ears. He would at different times get a blasting of the advice in his bosom. Ot would amount to defilement if he dare accept the MD's advances.
His new job offer was on the edge of collapse if the MD's request is not fulfilled. Daniel was so confused that he didn't know what else to do.
He decided to take it to God in his knees. Prayer is the language he thought would help him out. A little word of prayer was to make the difference.
A month later, he was summoned to the MD's office where he was told that he had been nominated for the an award. This annual award is given to the most dedicated staff. And frankly, Daniel had been very hardworking, he does his job competently and with intelligence.
Here is another opportunity for the MD to take her pound of flesh. She told him to:
You are the most qualified for this award but I will have you before you get it.
Daniel became confused the more. He had prayed and committed the heart of this woman into the hands of God. How come she isn't giving up. This battle isn't over yet, he said:
Madam, no amount of pressure can make me give in to this evil. And no amount of worldly possession can make me sin again God.
The MD was bewildered at the position of Daniel despite all that she had done to win him to her side.
Daniel, just one night and all your misery will be over. Don't forget, I am in charge here, the ball is in your court.
The company management board had set up a committee to look into employing the service of a new MD since Mrs. Share Johnson will be heading to South Africa to head the branch of the company there.
All along, Daniel have been passing through a test for the position of MD. He had barely spent one year when he was noticed to be articulate, hardworking and responsible.
Not accepting to lay with MD was a litmus test which he passed successfully.
On the day of the awards night organized by the company, Daniels received the awards for the most enterprising staff and the announcement of the transfer of Mrs. Shafe Johnson to South Africa who will be replaced by Daniel as the current MD came with a shock as everyone gave a standing ovation.
It is always good to be faithful in every position we find ourselves because God will never fail his own
