Naughty Professor
Good morning all and happy new month. May we all have a reason to celebrate this new month. Looking at the dip on BCH, it feels like our walls are crumbling like a pack of cards but that in itself is a reason to be hopeful that things will not be the same.
When you see or hear about a professor, what first comes to mind is that a brilliant person is birthed or around. This was the case with my little friend called professor.
Abdul is a seven years old smart boy who can turn a dull moment to fun and he is good at mathematics. This earned him the nickname, Professor.
Seven months ago when he was promoted to Basic eight, that the second class in the junior secondary school, his mathematics teacher enters the class and asked who had the highest score in Mathematics in their previous class, Abdul raised his hand to answer in the affirmative.
Wow! Such a young fellow.
The teacher said softly.
He them wrote a simple equation on the board. Everyone in the class bowed their heads, expecting Abdul to solve the mathematical problem.
It was this simple. Abdul solved it but posed a question to the teacher that almost throw him off balance.
What theorem could we apply to proof that addition of one figure to another should give an increased value?
Now, the professoral nature of Abdul was beginning to show forth.
Mr Brown, the mathematics teacher looked at him with beads of sweat on his forehead said addition would always give an increased value and there is no other proof to show that except the sign (+).
How To Help Smart Kids
In our world today, some smart kids are not well managed and they are somewhat lost because of misplaced priority.
Children born with special gift, call them genius if you like, would always proof their nature wherever they find themselves as gift children.
Guide and care should be available. Whether gifted or not, children will always be children. They would need an adult who is experienced to put them through. Hence, their should be a place where care is made available to keep them in touch with their bravery, smart ness and cleverness.
Nurture Their Interest : Children have some interest. While.some would want to keep animals as pet, others want to try fixing a bad television or radio set. This is how as a parent you will find that your ward is interested in some things than the other. And you will be guided as to how to be of help to them.
Expose Them To New Ideas and Trends: Smart kids can learn quickly so when they are exposed to new ideas like software, programming, coding, Artificial Intelligence, cryptocurrency etc, they tend to learn very fast. To meet with the demands of the time, smart kids ought to see through a model what is in vogue in science, technology, banking, engineering and so on.
Teach Them Time Management
Time is important in all that we do in life as such smart kids, not just smart kids alone though, all kids should be taught how to manage their time. Time is precious and every passing moment counts and must be judiciously used.
Like the boy, Abdul in the foregoing story, we should engage the kids in productive assignments that would bring out the sleeping giant in them.
The Connection Between Schoolwork and Interest.
Every school work has a connect with one career or the other. For example, when child is asked to complete a work on measurement in centimetre, milliliter, kilometre and more, it can be linked to track events in sports, on the measure of a journey or yards of clothes.
From there, a child could find his place of interest and build on it quickly.
Children who are smart could ask the dandiest questions. Some could be naughty with their mindset. In all, they need to be watch closely.
Harnessing and making the most out of these special gifts that these little children possess should be made a priority. Some of them are extremely good, but just as Newton's Third law states that Action and reaction are equal and opposite. If these actions are not met with opposite reactions, they will begin to lose their cool and might end up not living to their full potential.
