Bridget
Bridget works with a delivery firm. She was very dutiful and diligent. Her manager was very kind to her. Several clients love the way she attends to them. After work every evening, Bridget attends an evening class out of the desire to earn a degree in business administration.
At the end of one business year, which is held every December, Bridget, like every other employee, attended the staff dinner party where bonuses and promotion letters were distributed to all deserving staff.
To her surprise, she only got the Christmas bonus of a quarter bag of rice, vegetable oil and a brown envelope that contained $10. She was happy that all that came her way plus her monthly salary.
When work resumed in January, Bridget was up again to fulfil her task of delivering services to clients of the company. Some of the companies did reward her for always being active with delivery of documents for quick actions.
Some of the staff at MLX Courier services where Bridget is employed were so surprised that she wasn't considered for any promotion even though is one of the most enterprising staff of the company.
What took them back is that Bridget never complained or discussed it with anyone.
As the only child that works in her home, Bridget has a lot of responsibilities to take care of. She is so determined not to allow anything to distract her. Everytime the month ends and she receives her pay, she would buy foodstuff in the house and hand some cash to her mother for upkeep of the home.
The only time she has to herself is Saturdays but many of the said Saturdays she had to do overtime so she could have more bonuses on her monthly salary.
One Saturday, she went to deliver a truckload of toiletries to one of the fine star hotels in the heart of the city. When the truck was completely offloaded and fully counted by the officer in-charge, Bridget stepped out from the office and was walking down the stairs, she saw a bag full of money.
It was an opportunity to become rich but Bridget wouldn't.
The driver was in a haste to return to the yard so that he could have the rest of the day to himself, Bridget hurriedly requested for the presence of the manager where she related how she came in contact with the bag.
For other members of the entourage that went to supply the toiletries, Bridget will never have an opportunity to be wealthy in life. They said to one another:
That would have made her a big woman and resign from this kind of job.
The manager was very surprised to see a fellow who could still do what Bridget had done. And to make it a worst-case, no one had complained of missing money.
Two days later when the matter had cooled off an expatriate who had lodged in the executive suite in the hotel came in with police officers. He had just been rescued from the den of kidnappers.
Heed the team of SWAT police officers to find how the money had gone missing. His missing driver had thrown down the bag of hard currency from the elevator and the kidnappers who had invaded the hotel promised to whisk the expatriate away completely.
When the news broke out on social media and national newspapers, many philanthropists especially called on the lady who returned the money, in person of Bridget, to reward her.
Later on, the missing driver reappeared and was rewarded too.
Within a week, Bridget had gathered enough money to lift her family from poverty and to establish her own courier agency.
Having studied business administration, Bridget resigned from MLX Courier to establish her agency. She was celebrated and honoured in a sent forth party organised with a car gift for bringing honour through her diligent service to the company.
When she started her own business, within a short space of time, BRIDGE COURIER has become the talk of the town based on the trust they have on the founder, Bridget.
There are very few people on the planet who would do what Bridget has done. I'm glad She go the reward she deserved.
