Acceptable Service
Hi bloggers. It's another weekend. Hope you all have set plan to have a groovy weekend this time? Well, for me, it's a retreat that I compulsory have to attend. The journey just began now and it's going to take a little above two hours to reach the venue of the programme.
Two years ago when I first attended the programme,I had a wonderful experience altogether as the instructors and guest speakers made me realise that until I discovered who I am, I can possibly make no difference in my environment no matter how hard I struggle.
This year, the theme is entirely different. We were set on a topic that is not particularly new. Acceptable service.
Acceptable service is one that is done through a manual or lay down rules. Hence, for the service to be acceptable, it has to follow the lay down rules. But if it does not, then it may not be acceptable.
I started to wonder if there are services that are not acceptable. Sure, some services may not be acceptable based on the motive behind it. For a service not to be acceptable, it has the following condiments which I called
CHECKLIST OF ACCEPTABLE SERVICE
• Pride
Only a man with a humble spirit can render a service that is acceptable. Pride makes you take the work like it doesn't matter or like if you aren't there, then it can't be done. For your information, no man is indispensable. If you have been considering whether you are valuable (as much as that may be good) or qualified, there are more qualified people than you.
So, shove the pride and be humble if you want your service to be acceptable. Be it in the secular job or otherwise.
• Self Interest
When your desires are for selfish reasons then your reward is already given you. Friends, whatever your finds to do, ensure to do it with passion and not for self-aggrandisement.
Nothing should be through strife or vainglory. Any activity that tends to draw you to an audience must be attended to with a lot of caution.
Through personal experience, one has come to the knowledge that if you do not ask for things to better the lot of others you may not receive it.
The purpose for asking for a thing is proportional to what you get in the end.
Any service that projects the servant over the master may not be acceptable.
• Serving in Bitterness and Unforgiven
A lot of people have relegated their service by grumbling. Some have linked their unproductive life to where they were posted and weren't able to nurture.
We ought not to allow bitterness to grow in our minds.
We should not harbour bitterness and unforgiveness.
The reason why some careers aren't blooming is because of the state of mind of the initiator. Where there is bitterness, there is usually no growth.
Rather than hold a grudge, we should forgive and forge ahead with the mission we planned to accomplish.
• Cheap Popularity
I know that in our little offices, there are competitors who want to take over the office from us because of one little error here or there.
Anyone who wants to be known is only doing so not for the organisation.
When a man receives a vision, he should be afraid of the one who sent him, not the receiver of the message.
It is good to be relevant, but we should not allow greed to make us pull another down.
Posterity may not forgive anyone who does that.
• Sacrifice
For any service to be acceptable, one must be able to sacrifice his convenience. Your level of service will be tested by the sacrifice you are able to make.
Let your sacrifice cost you something.
Big organisations are looking for devoted employees who are ready to sacrifice their time and resources.
Wish you all the best on your retreat and all that you mentioned are big checks in life
