Who would have thought that despite the restrictions due to Covid, some people could venture out into business? Hmmm so you think a pandemic would stop others whose passion is into micro-entrepreneurship? This world crisis has brought so much turmoil to people who are not equipped with the right mindset on how to cope in the coming years. For them, employment is the only resort and nothing else. Once they finished their contract if not terminated, they are back to the rat race once again.
It is awe-inspiring to know a dear friend
and even my brother who ventured out into entrepreneurship when the pandemic hit the world. They managed to source out funds knowing that investments are quite tight. This is so moving to know such a challenging ordeal establishing their micro-businesses.
A friend of mine whose passion primarily is to buy and sell goods opened her small store last year. Acquired a good personal relationship with the neighbours gave her an edge and a decent revenue. Rather than applying for a job, which she mentioned doesn’t have the freedom to do what she wanted instead crafted herself more into entrepreneurship.
Last Wednesday as I had a chance to speak with her for about 32 minutes and it was quite late in the Philippines, I excitedly proposed Bitcoin Cash as her mode of payment. As the eldest in the family, seeing how my brother can pursue his dream of doing what he wanted is also an achievement. His determination to pursue his air conditioning services is an eye-opener not only to me but also to others who wished to work what they wanted to do and be able to earn going away from the rat race of employment. For those who have said that this pandemic had brought them so much mess in terms of employment, perhaps it's a wake-up call that they need to shift their mindset into something more productive apart from the 9/5 job. Aside from air-conditioned, my brother also did extra electrical services when necessity called for it.
Others can surpass the challenge of being able to stay away from the rat race and I truly salute those who have taken a bold step to find ways on how they can survive especially when Covid is said to stay for 7 years. I have nothing against employment, as I am still a state school Secondary teacher in Seychelles however this is not my long-term goal either. There's more to life than just being an overseas worker.
