Are Seychelloises just Lucky?

Highlighting on this post is that covid vaccines are now available here in Seychelles and Seychelloises are given vaccination. As the country is entering another variant of covid, another quarantine and lockdown has been imposed just a week back.

Schools are still closed while parastatal employees where my husband is currently working with, worked only for a half day with which I can say that Seychelloises in general are still lucky not to mention the security this country offers to their people.

Seychellois are the locals or the people living in Seychelles. My hubby is born and raised here though most of his younger years were spent in the UK yet despite his overseas exposure, still he would want to come back to his country.

Let me share some relevant reasons why although you would have an idea based from this video clip I made, as nature here is one of the country's tourists attractions.

As you guys all know we met on a dating site unexpectedly while we both worked in the Middle East and eventually after one week of talking, we decided to meet personally. As my husband would claimed that since I agreed to meet him, then we were in a mutual agreement that we would take our meeting into the next level, wow the nerve! lol...

Anyway as I was sharing, despite him having a good working condition as he's an aircraft engineer at Qatarairways and earning a good salary was not much of a deal for him.

After his three years contract, he decided not to renew. He wanted to come back to his homeland here in Seychelles.

His ultimate reason was;

This is his country and of course, he would want to experience working here and not overseas. He enjoyed the luxury of not working on a graveyard shift with benefits far better than what we both have back when we were in Qatar.

From a general perspective of Seychelloises, their working condition is very much relaxing compared to ex-pats working here. They have more "holidays" than a mere contractual workers.

Apart from their working condition, they have a pension at the age of 63 regardless if they have been employed or not at all.

Jeez in the Philippines, you can only claim your pension provided that you contributed during your employment years, however here in Seychelles, as long as Seychelloises reached their retirement age, the government must provide their monthly assistance through a pension. Hence, this country is a good option for retirees.

Also, they have FREE HEALTHCARE which is accompanied by all other freebies while they require even an overseas treatment. Surprisingly their government also provides an all expense-paid trip for it.

Apart from the healthcare, FREE Education is also a privilege here as those who are 'less fortunate" were given substantial food assistance at school.

Uniform and also free classwork. And as a teacher, our responsibility is to sign at the back for them to be given a replacement.

So the idea of buying classwork is not much of a hassle here. Likewise, the thought of "scholarships" and studying abroad were offered to students right after finishing secondary 5, or those who are A Levels unlike in my country where we worked hard to get it!. We have to prove our worth in terms of school grades. When I say offered, one epic example when one of my s5 students during their "Open Day" did not bother to attend because her reason was, "she doesn't need it and she doesn't like studying abroad." Wow, she has an option to say "NO!" to a good opportunity where she could expand her horizon in terms of education abroad.

So if you're given a opportunity to study overseas, will you take it especially if it's all paid?
