It is believed that Ayurveda is the oldest knowledge dedicated to human health and healing. It is typical for Ayurvedic treatment that the therapist does not limit his attention to just one symptom or the affected part of the body. The doctor examines the emotional and physical state of a person, as well as the specific characteristics of the disease - for example, the tendency to chronicity of disease processes. This complex diagnosis, examined from different angles, also explains why different patients with the same symptoms and complaints are treated with different Ayurvedic methodologies.
According to Ayurveda, ailment should be seen as a consequence of physiological changes. This is because various mental disorders can affect physical health, and vice versa - physical disorders can cause emotional disorders. Ayurveda believes that the emotional and the physical are inextricably linked.
For this reason, Ayurveda treats body and mind not individually but together. The basis of diseases is also mistakes made due to ignorance or distorted knowledge. A more philosophical question of the occurrence of diseases is perceived - due to an imbalance within oneself.
Medicinal formulations have been accumulated over the years and have been improved with accumulated experience over several millennia. All medicines are prepared from plants (whether in the form of extracts, juices, tinctures or powders), certain metals and minerals, and animal medicines.
Ayurvedic medicines go through a series of purification processes, but without chemical treatment, which is important to minimize possible side effects. According to their characteristics, in addition to the healing effect, they also give the body a preventive and rejuvenating (tonic) effect.
This science emphasizes the strengthening of the immune system, which is the basis of the body's defense not only against infectious diseases, but also against tumor processes, autoimmune processes, allergic and others.
In the general plan of healing, there is also an important diet, which is directly determined by the physical constitution of the patients, as well as the type of disease.
Typical of Ayurvedic treatment is that it is not symptomatic but systematic. They look for the root of the disease, and do not suppress the symptoms, which have only a temporary effect, and in some cases can clarify the clinical picture and, therefore delay the diagnosis.
The idea of treatment is not to control the disease, but to eradicate it completely. Through plans of healing and appropriate dietary regimes, not only the recovery of the body from illness, but also the cleansing of accumulated toxins, maintenance of vitality and complete balance between different systems.
Along with Ayurveda, yoga and traditional medicine are among the oldest medical systems. The key to sustaining results longer is an approach to a healthy lifestyle - what and when to eat, how to cook and what to eat. The attitude to food choice depends both on the time of the year and on the different hours of the day during which different organs are active.
Each of the six flavors - sweet, salty, sour, pungent, bitter and astringent - has different properties and corresponding effects on the body. In the case of corresponding disorders, some dishes may be temporarily excluded from the diet, depending on the group of tastes to which they belong.
