Silk, gold, precious stones. Luxury is the perfect word for bridesmaid dresses in Asia.
Autumn in Asia is a traditional wedding season. Admiring the beautiful brides, I decided to find out what beautiful Asian women look like on their “happiest day”.
1. Korea
Korean brides wear dresses of different colors depending on their age and status. Traditional wedding dress in Korea is bell-shaped and composed of many elements. Each dress is unique and hand-sewn specifically for each bride. The dress is decorated with embroidered flowers and butterflies.
Modern Korean women prefer more European outfits, but with national elements.
2. India
In India, brides dress in silk saris with very heavy hand embroidery. The traditional color of a wedding dress in India is red. But there can be blue, yellow, green, orange and other bright colors.
In the northern regions, a married woman wears a bindi (red dot) on her forehead.
3. Vietnam
In Vietnam, the bride's wedding dress consists of a headdress, trousers and a silk tunic. The trousers and tunic are traditionally silk. The tunic is worn over the trousers.
The most traditional dress color is red. It is believed that this particular color will bring good luck to a young family. For 4-7 days of the wedding, the bride changes about four dresses.
4. Thailand
Traditional wedding dresses of Thai brides are very similar to Indian ones. Only the colors of the mysterious brides choose pastel.
The dress is traditionally silk and with a shawl. Often one shoulder of the bride is left open. Usually, the bride changes three dresses during the whole wedding.
5. China
In China, brides traditionally wear silk, always red dresses. In the north of China, the dress should fit the figure of the bride, and in the south, they dress up in a jacket and several skirts. The head is covered with a veil and a diadem in the shape of a phoenix.
The bride wears a red outfit only at the ceremony itself. After the end of ceremony, the groom removes the red veil from the bride's head.
6. Japan
Traditional Japanese wedding dress should be white - a symbol of the bride's purity and chastity. After the ceremony, the girl can change into a red kimono, which is a symbol of good luck.
The snow-white outfit is accompanied by a luxurious cape with the image of birds and flowers - "utikake".
7. Indonesia
More than 300 ethnic groups live on the islands of Indonesia, as a result, it is almost impossible to distinguish a traditional wedding dress. But they all amaze with their wealth and beauty.
A few days before the wedding, Indonesian brides paint their bodies with intricate ornaments using henna.
As in the rest of the world in Asia, a wedding is a fascinating and colorful event. If you are lucky enough to receive an invitation to a wedding in Asia, be sure to use it. Or choose one of the tours to Exotic Asia and you may be lucky enough to see the wedding ceremony.
