There are many resorts on the shores of the lake in which you can enjoyed over there. If you get bored of relaxing on the lake itself, you can go sightseeing in the area. Since Lake Garda is located between the big tourist cities of Milan and Venice, various shows and fashion shows are often held on its shores.

8. Masurian lakes

Mazury is an ethnographic region in the north of Poland. This dry fact does not in any way reflect the fact that this is the land of "a thousand lakes" and untouched nature. The lakes are surrounded by huge forests with landscaped parks and nature reserves.

The region of the Masurian Islands is called one of the most environmentally friendly. This is due to the complete absence of industry and low population density. The center of the Masurian region is the city of Olszyn. The popular attraction of the city is the Teutonic Castle of the XIV century. Interesting sights include the late Gothic cathedral, the High Gate - a fragment of the 14th century city fortifications and the old Baroque town hall.

And the Masurian lakes can organize an amazing vacation. Here you can sunbathe and swim, walk in historical sights, go sailing and, of course, get acquainted with the delights of Polish cuisine.

9. Lake Schwansee

Lake Schwansee is located in Bavaria, in the Allgau Mountains in the Alps. It is the smallest of the lakes that surround the famous Bavarian castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. It was it that gave its name to PI Tchaikovsky's ballet "Swan Lake". The beautiness of the lake, and its extraordinary landscapes and fabulous castles - all this inspired the composer so much that stunning music was created, and the famous ballet was born.

On the shores of Swan Lake in the Hohenschwangau castle, the last romantic of Europe, the knight king Ludwig II of Bavaria, grew up. Wagner regularly visited Ludwig on the shores of Swan Lake in the old castle, where he played his compositions, not intended for the public, written especially for Ludwig. And the "Ring of the Nibelungs" was also written by him for the birthday of the king-knight.

You probably won't be able to swim in the blue waters of the Schwansee. But admire truly magical landscapes and plunge into the atmosphere of a fairy tale - for sure. Who knows, maybe this fabulous land will organize a meeting with your muse as well.

10. Lake Lagoa do Fogo

Lake Lagoa do Fogo is the second largest lake on the island of Sao Miguel. It is located in the middle of the island at an altitude of 947 m above sea level, in the crater of a volcano that died out about 15,000 years ago.

The name of the lake is translated from Portuguese as โ€œLake of Fireโ€. It is a huge lake with clear water and white sand beaches. It is famous for the beautiful natural landscapes that surround it and the amazing cauldron-like failure. Since 1974, the lake has been declared a nature reserve.

Hot springs remind us that the lake is in a seismically active place. On Lake Lagoa do Fogo, tourists will be offered to try a unique dish. The meat is stewed with vegetables in a saucepan, which is then wrapped in a bag and buried in hot ash. Although it takes about four hours to cook, the taste is worth it.

When you are in the Azores, be sure to visit this interesting lake.
