Vacation and holiday season are in full swing. While some prefer passive relaxation being spent on a beach towel on a sandy beach, others need activity to relax and hike the mountain trails. This second type of vacation should be well prepared to avoid unpleasant surprises.

First of all: a good thermos

The weather in the mountains can be changeable and really moody. Although you will start your expedition at the foot of the mountains in full sun, in the middle of the trail, weather conditions can change dramatically and temperatures can cool off. For such cases, it is worth buying a thermos that will keep you warm for hours. Even if the contents of the hot tea or coffee disappear within the first hour of the ride, you can refill the thermos from the hiding place on the trail. This is a very practical and environmentally friendly solution! Your own beverage container will replace any disposable plastic and paper cups that turn into unnecessary waste soon after use.

Second: nutritious, light snack

The effort made to overcome the trail burns energy much faster. It is very important that the food consumed during the grueling walking tour provides vitamins and minerals and high quality energy. We do not recommend consuming sweets that can easily melt under the influence of temperature. The appetizer should be small, but concise and guarantee the comfort of consumption. Small packaging is unlikely to affect the shape and weight of your luggage, and a nutritious snack will save you sudden hunger anywhere on the trail. The magnesium in cashews can help reduce the feeling of fatigue that can be easily obtained with increased physical activity. Get to other nuts, seeds, and dried fruits that you can share with your fellow travelers.

Third: a comfortable backpack

When preparing for a trip to the mountains, we must be as practical as possible and 100% comfortable. Therefore, ditch the shoulder bags or disposable bags that you carry in your hand. The best solution is to take a backpack, which, when put on your back, will not restrict your movements, but will allow you to take the things we need in the mountains. However, we recommend that you don't overdo the size of your backpack. The larger it is, the easier it will be to fill it with unnecessary items, the amount of which can mean significant weight and at the same time discomfort from walking. Also make sure that the backpack is waterproof and that the luggage will not get wet, for example, during unexpected rain.

Fourth: first aid kit

Anyone who has ever been in the mountains knows how easy it is to get even the slightest injury. All that is needed is a moment of inattention, when the leg slides off a steep rock and the hand grabs the sharp edge. Away from shops and urban civilization, we find it difficult to find something that can easily stop the blood and refill the wound. It is very important to bring a first aid kit on mountain trips, in which, in the event of injury, you will find patches, bandages, gauze, latex gloves, pain relievers or disinfectant for wounds. Even if you don't use it this time, you can save someone on the trail who got injured and didn't pack their luggage properly by purchasing a first aid kit. General trail assistance is very important, so don't underestimate the warning symptoms of other hikers.

Fifth: raincoat

Even the lightest rain jacket is enough to completely change the face of your mountain trip. Even if the rain that hits the middle of the trail is short and intense, soaked clothing can cause significant discomfort. You will quickly appreciate the fact that you have not forgotten to toss the folded jacket at the bottom of the backpack, which takes up very little space. While this hasn't been helpful to you many times, you should be prepared that the weather might surprise you this time. When it starts raining, wear clothes that keep the rain out. After weather conditions, you can remove the top cover and your clothes will stay dry. However, if a storm catches you on the trail, keep important rules in mind to get through the weather safely. First of all, avoid open places, peaks and trees, move away from the rocks at a distance of at least a meter, similar to watercourses and metal trail elements. Sit down and squeeze your legs together and place your backpack under you. These are the basics, and they will allow you to safely get through the weather we don't want to experience on a mountain trail.

These are several elements that will make your stay in the mountains much more enjoyable. Put on your comfortable shoes, put on a bow, grab the above items, and set out on your climb!
