Fuel scarcity
Good afternoon fellas, I really appreciate the love I was shown here yesterday, it was very amazing and this has made me really feel among in this great family. Special Thanks to everyone that had a contribution in my first article one way or the other especially the upvotes, they were really encouraging and I feel really lucky to find myself here. It's another week, today is Monday and you can imagine the stress that comes with the first working day of the week. I hope everyone has a great week ahead and a great day ahead at work too...
To my future sponsors, I want to say a
big Thank you...
Before I started today's stress as the begining of the week always is, I have been at the filling station for almost 5 hours, a normal person would wonder what I was doing there for such a long period of time.
It has been a nightmare for almost two weeks since we have been experiencing fuel scarcity in the country, it all started as rumours which caused a lot of filling stations to increase their selling price as some of them even locked up, this wasn't enough to stop the rush at these filling stations as people were still struggling to buy fuel at a very high price. You don't want to be in a situation where there's no light and fuel to even power your generator. It is really horrible. The power supply in the country has also been terrible in the past month and this really makes things worse because it has indirectly increased the number of people at filling stations.
While at the filling station today, I was opportuined to have conversations with a lot of people that have also come to get fuel for their cars or generator. The speculations going around is that this fuel scarcity is being politized because Nigeria produces one of the best fuel with a very low sulphur content in it but the cases of car engine knocks increased in the past few days and people started conducting personal tests on the fuel they bought and it was noticed that it has a very high sulphur content in it which has been the cause of several engine knocks experienced in the past days. How would a country import such a large quantity of fuel without testing them is the question on everyone's mouth.
All these speculations could actually be true considering the fact that the presidential election is fast approaching and the issue of subsidy is another topic that comes up when elections start approaching but I guess the government really wanted to bring it in a different way this time around is why all these things are happening but it's really up to the government to make things work for their citizens before things get out of hand because the rate of robbery tends to increase during times like this.
Not to put all the blame on the government because it seems they're taking steps in reducing the scarcity. In a statement given by NNPC through GarbaDeen Muhammed, he said that the NNPC has enough petroleum to go round the country for distribution to ease the scarcity. The federal government confirmed that the previous imported fuel had methanol in it and they have ordered for 2.1 billion liters of methanol free petroleum to ease the tension that the fuel scarcity has brought to her citizens. We can only wait for this to come through because the stress is becoming unbecoming.
Thanks for reading ❤️
Oh gosh, they might be hoarding the fuel to make the price higher or to cause panic among the people. Fuel prices have been increasing here in our country too.
