Stuck out here in the muddy provinces of western Mindanao with the mosquitoes, snakes, carabaos, and homicidal coconut trees. It's a tropical paradise!

Regarding SmartBCH, @stewbits Says ........... Noise.cash is really getting odd. (Or maybe it's me, and this was another "user error"? Who knows?) @stewbits put up a really good reply to one of my posts, but when I tried to renoise it, Noise.cash fussed at me. So here, protectively wrapped in quotation marks, is Mr. @stewbits reply, which is something we should all read and heed: "A diversified porfolio indeed. There are many other tokens/coins on smartBCH as well, the smartBCH ecosystem has sucked me in and I am playing around with the various Dexes and getting silly rates of APR like 300%. I only put in a small amount as fun money but the perfomance of LAW during the market dip was impressive. See marketcap.cash for smartBCH listings that most of the internet does not know exists." The original reply is at https://noise.cash/post/1zxg96z4 . If you appreciate the info he is giving us, why not give him a tip! There have been several good posts here on Noise.cash about getting started in SmartBCH; of course, I can't find any of them at the moment. I even tried going through my posts to see if I reposted any of them. Ugh, what a cringe inducing experience it was to look at my old posts!

Revisiting Those Killer Coconut Trees I have written several times about the "killer" coconut trees that are inexplicably planted all around our house, from my initial dismay at their placement, ( https://noise.cash/post/132jkp8x ), to coconut tree trivia, ( https://noise.cash/post/l4q285g6 ), to an alleged actual Coconut Tree assault, ( https://noise.cash/post/l57n476v ), to a final acceptance of the fact that maybe they aren't all that dangerous, ( https://noise.cash/post/l779jn7p ). Well, given current events, I can now emphatically state once and for all that those damn trees are a menace! A few days ago I was standing with my wife and kids by the garage, when we all heard a rumbling sound high up, followed by a "whoosh" which ended with a resounding thud. A coconut had fallen from way up in a coconut tree, and landed ominously in our yard between the house and the pig pens. People walk around there all the time! What if some kids were playing there when this stupid coconut fell? The first pic shows where the coconut landed. See how close it is to our house? The second pic is a close up of the projectile released by the malevolent tree. As if this isn't enough proof that coconut trees have bad intent towards humans, just yesterday I was standing on the side porch, when another coconut tree on the other side of the house let a coconut bomb fall. This one landed a little closer to the house, in an area where Lola frequently gardens. If we owned this land, all these stupid coconut trees around our house would be history. If folks tell you that coconuts never drop out of these trees, and you can plant them around your house without any worries, tell them to take a nap underneath one!

My Big Crypto Investment(s) Yesterday, (06/Jan/2022 on my side of the planet), I invested $1,600.00 USD into several different cryptocurrencies. (Those of you who wanted the crypto market to make a deep plunge downwards soon may thank me. Tips are always appreciated!) Three of these cryptos were stable coins; the other 11 were cryptos either I think have a future, or I just like, and want to support. I put $100 each into the following cryptos: ADA, ALGO, ATOM, BCH, BTC, DASH, DOT, LTC, SOL, XLM, and XTZ. While most of these guys are showing a value of less than $100, (this is due to the Coinbase purchasing fee), ATOM is already showing a profit. Ain't Cosmos wonderful! I put $200 each into the GUSD and USDC stable coins, and $100 into the (un)stable coin DAI. Except for GUSD, which I bought on Gemini, I purchased and am storing these guys on Coinbase, simply for convenience. (I am extremely lazy.) Note that it makes MUCH MORE SENSE to put your stable coins on BlockFi, where you will get a higher interest rate for them. (I am going to do this for the three stable coins.) My plan is to track the 11 regular cryptos on Coinbase for a year or so, reporting every so often how my investment is doing. If Noise.cash survives long enough, (if this silly site keeps being el cheapo with the Free Tips, I doubt it will), I'd like to track these guys for even longer, because HODLing works its magic in time spans of years, not months. Also make note of the fact that I did NOT invest in Ethereum. I HATE ETH!! I had a small balance of many of the coins I invested into sitting around on Coinbase, so to make this trial valid I simply transferred these balances into my, er, I mean Lola's wallets *, and started from zero. Well, I did this for every coin except stupid ETH. When I tried to transfer my small Ethereum balance, the outlandish fees would have resulted in a trade with a negative balance of a little over 7 dollars. Screw that! Most crypto gurus say that ETH will be a big money maker for 2022. I don't care. I think ETH sucks, and I don't want to promote it. If I were to purchase ETH just to make some money, then I may as well go out and speculate on the latest meme coin nonsense. Yeah, I know that possibly some of the "coins" I invested in are actually Ethereum tokens, but I don't care. ** ETH still sucks! ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ * Got that IRS tax goons? These wallets belong to a citizen of the Philippines, NOT a US citizen! ** So what is a "coin" and what is a "token" anyway? I believe that DAI is an ETH token, but I'm not sure. XTZ may also be a token, but I also read that it has its own blockchain. This stuff is as clear as mud, and just confuses the hell out of me!

@OldBastard

This Is Unacceptable! I just logged in, and had a grand total of 6 cents, ( $0.06 ), in tips to give out for the day. If this site is supposed to work by users tipping each other, yet we don’t get any free tips, then this site will start to lose users. Is there something I am missing? Is there another way to reward content other than tips, or is there some “secret handshake” I don’t know about that gives us more tips?

A Fantastic Beginning Guide to Hive Whatever you are doing right now, STOP doing it, and read this article: read.cash/@GhostonChronic/hive-a-quickstart-guide-b7178903 . Seriously. READ IT NOW!! What is this article all about, you ask? It is an introduction to Hive written so that a confused old man, (such as me), could understand it. The author is @GhostonChronic, so you know that it is well researched, and nicely written. It is a pleasure to read, and you will learn something .... a lot, actually! On the other hand, if you prefer a disorganized screed as your reading material, may I humbly direct you to any of my posts, where I rant and rave incoherently about whatever minor inconvenience of the day is giving me fits, damn it!

@OldBastard

How to DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH Skip my blabbing and ranting and go straight to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNxUQ2sJtso . Note that he is also shilling his own course at the end, but at nearly $30/month I think that is a waste of money. But what do I know? If I could set up a group account for Noise.cash, so that anyone who joins here could access the course for free, that would be groovy, but I'm sure the creator of the course would not like that. One thing I do know is that the Free Tips here on Noise.cash are STILL acting unstable, darn it! Anyway, happy New Year and all that crap. Like they used to say somewhere, I hope the bird of paradise flies up your nose. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfYFx6MOTYU ) Zip A Dee Doo Dah! ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kpWM292c1Q - and don't give me your "That's racist" whining. It's a kid's movie, and besides, as a fat old man myself, I wish I had Uncle Remus's attitude towards life. I've had about as much of this pretentious anti-racism as I can handle. We're all equally human, created in the image of God. 'Nough said!) What else can I rant about? That the majority of the human race seems to be laying on its back, kicking its feet in the air, and submitting to one humiliation after another as the sick minds amongst us continue to tighten their grip of tyranny on us? Just go watch the damn video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNxUQ2sJtso

@OldBastard

Grrr! I Give Up Today! First of all, I'm in a bad mood, (imagine that!), so it's a struggle to write a positive and uplifting reply to posts right now, even really good ones. But even worse, Noise.cash isn't giving me enough free tips. Sure, I can tip out of my own wallet, but that gets expensive quickly, and it's really not much fun to "work" here on Noise.cash, and actually lose money for my efforts. So I'm calling it a day. How about you? Do you ever continue to "work" on Noise, even if you aren't making any money, or even losing money? Am I being selfish?

@OldBastard

Tunes For The Times We live in sad, crazy times. An "invisible enemy" has put many of us in the ground, and caused governments across the world to curtail liberty and personal freedom, (what is the difference, by the way?), making a few of the more paranoid among us worry about the onset of an age of global tyranny. In "celebration" of these tumultuous times, I thought I would come up with a list of songs which capture the mood of the moment, much like other users here on Noise.cash have come up with their own lists of songs. I tried not to pick songs which were too partisan, so songs that claim Anti-Vaxxers or Vax Maximalists suck were skipped. 1. Eric Clapton - This Has Gotta Stop. Is the curve flattened yet? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNt4NIQ7FTA 2. Rebel Music 3 O'Clock Roadblock - Bob Marley & The Wailers. Substitute "vaccine passport" for "birth certificate", and you have a good description of life right now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe5p1yIugTM 3. The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again. I don't know; I bet we will, over and over and over. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHhrZgojY1Q 4. King Crimson - 21st Century Schizoid Man. The growing horrors of contemporary life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OvW8Z7kiws 5. Three Dollar Bill - Maria Muldaur. Dedicated to my least favorite public figure, Dr. Fauci. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vV1CTrf1JM 6. Coronavirus Rhapsody. Queen would be proud! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Eo9M4-BrJA 7. Van Morrison - Born To Be Free. Another aging rocker disgusted with how world governments have reacted to current events. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYLTmKDyWn4 8. New Whirl Odor · Public Enemy. I HATE rap, but I thought the title of this was interesting, and as it is from 2014, somewhat prophetic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwbbaRMWcMg 9. Disturbed - The Sound Of Silence. Cover of a Paul Simon masterpiece. The words of the prophets are sung on "New Whirl Odor"? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Dg-g7t2l4 Except for the "jab" at Fauci, (who I really dislike), I think I kept this mostly apolitical, so you may be able to enjoy it regardless of your opinion of the Covid19 vaccine. But for God's sake, I hope these damn lockdowns end soon, if not immediately!

Breakfast Of Champions? I did a quick search this morning, and quickly found a lot of "breakfast" posts. For example: https://noise.cash/post/lk42nk53 - eggs and noodles for breakfast https://noise.cash/post/l5r4qz20 - fried chicken, bread, and apples https://noise.cash/post/1gkg0gxg - a yummy feast! (you can just ignore the sardines) https://noise.cash/post/176jmv95 - "viand" (whatever that is) for breakfast Note that none of these posts include the accursed dried fish. For some bizarre reason, my wife's family loves to eat dried fish first thing in the morning. It is quite an experience to awaken with the rancid aroma of dried fish assaulting your nostrils! Being raised in the USA, we are used to things like cereal, oatmeal, or pancakes for breakfast, but living here in the Philippines we are slowly adapting to local custom. Shown in the first pic is my older son eating beef with rice for breakfast. Rice isn't often served for breakfast back in the USA. In the second pic you can see yours truly munching on some apples and kiwi fruit that my wife cut up for me. I usually eat a bowl of granola with soy or almond milk for breakfast, so this was a nice change. Healthy too! It's important that we have a balanced diet, so that our bodies have access to all sorts of different vitamins, minerals, and whatever else the nutritionists may dream up. So, to "balance out" the healthy meal of fresh fruit, I ate a bowl of junk food, in this case Cheetos, as shown in the last pic. It's a lot of work staying healthy! :-)

An Explanation Of Cryptocurrency Happy Holidays! Whatever your traditions of honoring God are this year, I hope they go exceedingly well for you, and that God grants all of us a fantastic 2022! As a gift for the Noise.cash community, I would like to present this little video I found on Reddit that does a wonderful job of explaining what cryptocurrency is, and why we should all be investing in it: https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/rn964o/a_normal_person_explains_crypto_currency/ . :-) Finally I know some of us are missing loved ones, which is especially painful this time of year. But someday, (sooner than we imagine!), we'll be reunited with them, and the circle of life will be complete again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bRJLkNqNXI . What a wonderful, glorious day that will be! God bless all of you, (even you two buttheads I had to block!).

@OldBastard

Why NFTs Suck I've written about this before, ( https://noise.cash/post/l4v77ng8 ), but I guess it needs to be said again: when you buy an NFT of an image, in the vast majority of cases all you are purchasing is a link, (a url), to an address on a server somewhere that may, (or may not), contain a copy of this image. THE IMAGE ITSELF IS NOT STORED ON THE BLOCKCHAIN! Coffeezilla just put out a new video where he interviews a guy who has taken upon himself the goal of educating people about what they are really buying when they purchase an NFT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_VsgT5gfMc . NFTs are actually even a bigger hoax than I thought because there is nothing from stopping multiple urls which point to the same server destination from being sold. Now some of you may start jumping up and down and holler, "Old Bastard, you idiot! I've made a ton of money buying and reselling NFTs!" If that's the case, then good for you. But understand that you are buying and reselling something that really ain't what it claims to be, and if you aren't careful, you'll liable to get your fingers burned. Please watch the video, and if after sitting through it you still believe that buying NFTs is a good move financially for you, at least you can't later say you weren't warned! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_VsgT5gfMc

I Smell A (Dead) Rat We have rats in our attic. Well, maybe more like large mice, because they aren't anything like those cat scaring beasts I've read about. But it's more fun to think of them as rats, particularly when we want them dead. They got up in our attic because it is not sealed off yet. Amongst the many, many things that I thought were complete here at Lola's farm, only to find out otherwise once we got here, this house still needs some work. So next year we plan on getting the money from somewhere to finally seal off the attic. Which should keep out the rats. And the chickens. And hopefully the cobras, and God knows what else. In the meantime, we had to do something about those stupid rats that have already taken residence up there. So a few weeks ago we bought some rat poison, and a few days ago my brother-in-law climbed up the horrid homemade ladder, (another item we need to buy is a decent extension ladder), to the attic, and strategically placed the rat poison all around up there. We noticed results almost immediately. My wife and her niece were out back, and a "screaming rat" jumped out of our attic, hit the ground hard, and died. Supposedly this has happened a few more times, (I've never seen it!), so the rats are starting to leave the attic. Wonderful! However, apparently not all the rats are able to hurl themselves off the rafters before expiring. If you walk in a particular place in our house, (a hallway between the bedrooms), you can distinctly catch a whiff of dead, decaying rat. It is not nearly as pleasant a scent as you would imagine, even when compared to the pigs in their pens nearby. Ugh! So now someone is going to have the ridiculously unpleasant task of climbing up into the attack and removing rotting rat corpses. What fun! Any volunteers?

From Zero To A Million In A Year? Ever since mad scientists in the USA and China created an enhanced virus, and then let the frigging thing loose a couple years ago, life has been hard for many folks. Never one to miss an opportunity to kick folks while they're down, Mother Nature recently let loose some awful storms, from the tornadoes in Kentucky, USA, to the typhoons here in the Philippines. People have lost their homes, possessions, and, in some extreme cases, their lives. In an attempt to prove that it is possible to come back from "rock bottom", a millionaire by the name of Mike Black set out to prove that he could rebuild his net worth from zero in the space of a year. His "experiment in alternative living" is nicely summarized here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMiNoVRUd4Q . Spoiler alert: he did not succeed in creating a net worth of 1 million dollars. But watch the video anyway, because he DID succeed in saving up quite a bit of money, substantially improving his living conditions, and dramatically impacting the life of at least one other person. Mike is strong advocate of the belief that, while we can't control what happens to us, we can control how we react to it. During the course of his year of trying to rebuild his fortune, he had to deal with many serious setbacks, setbacks that quite frankly would have discouraged me to the point of giving up. Mike's "Million Dollar Comeback" YouTube channel can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpOZchteNM5MMZHbbLqXAWw . So while we can't stop a tornado or typhoon from ripping the roof off our house and destroying our belongings, or a bunch of irresponsible scientists from releasing the next plague and causing our businesses to fail or our jobs to be lost because of it, we can control our ATTITUDES towards whatever life gives us, and know that, as long as we are still breathing, we are still able to positively impact the course of our life. As they say, it ain't over until the fat lady sings, even if sometimes we have to stick a sock in her mouth! Bonus Fact: "On August 13, 1990, [Curtis]Mayfield became paralyzed from the neck down after stage lighting equipment fell on him while he was being introduced at an outdoor concert at Wingate Field in Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York. Afterwards, though he was unable to play the guitar, he continued to compose and sing, which he found he could do by lying down and letting gravity pull down on his chest and lungs. 1996's New World Order was recorded in this way, with vocals sometimes recorded in lines at a time." ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtis_Mayfield ) When there's a will, there's a way!

Be Careful What You Cast In Stone Stone Mountain, ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_Mountain ), is a huge "rock" plunked down in the landscape east of the city of Atlanta, Georgia. It is quite a scenic place, (look at the first pic), and now that it is part of Stone Mountain Park, is the most visited site in the state of Georgia. There are hiking trails, kiddie attractions, and a tram that you can ride up to the top of the mountain, where on clear days you get a nice view of Atlanta. When I was working in Atlanta I used to frequently take my family there for outings. Unfortunately, it is also hosts the largest bas-relief artwork in the world, etched into the side of the mountain. (See the second pic.) Why is an artwork unfortunate? Because of the people depicted in it, three prominent men from the ill-fated Confederate States of America, (CSA), Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson. To call the CSA a contentious subject is a massive understatement! Regardless of your heritage, (my Mama grew up in rural southern Georgia), to deny that the CSA was formed for the preservation of the institution of American slavery is just to deny the facts. To break the bonds of slavery a bitter, bloody civil war had to be fought in the USA, and these three guys were, to use one of our ex-president's favorite phrases, "on the wrong side of history". Stone Mountain itself has a troubled history, being a significant site for Ku Klux Klan rallies. (The third pic is a newspaper clipping from 1915.) This monument exists to men who, at best, were maybe decent fellows who fought bravely for an undeserving cause. (Thank God they didn't carve an image of Nathan Bedford Forrest up there!) And cries for its removal are periodically being heard, along with opposing cries to preserve our past. What should we do? IMHO, the best way to resolve this dispute is to carve a proportionally sized image of Frederick Douglass, ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_Douglass ), on one side of the horsemen, and another proportionally sized image of Martin Luther King Jr., ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Luther_King_Jr. ), on the other. MLK Jr. was born in Atlanta, and Mr. Douglass was a contemporary of the three former Confederates. Of course, folks on either side of this issue HATE this idea. But whatever the merits of their arguments, I would like to see it done. I don't want the artwork to be destroyed, nor simply preserved in its existing state. Instead, I would love a demonstration of healing from the worst actions of Americans towards each other to be "cast in stone". ---------------------------------------------------- All three photos were swiped from the Wikipedia article on Stone Mountain, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_Mountain .

@OldBastard

NFTs vs. Reality Those of you who have "invested" in NFTs, how are your "investments" doing? Are you profitable yet? Have you considered possibly taking some profits, before the rug is pulled from this crazy NFT market? Coffeezilla just posted a new video up on YouTube where Keanu "The Man" Reeves laughed at the idea that NFTs are actually worth anything: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D92y0t04mNs . Now maybe he's acting, and is secretly hoping to depress the NFT market so he can scoop up a bunch of them at a heavy discount, but I doubt it. I think Mr. Reeves clearly understands the value, or lack thereof, of an NFT. If you want to gamble on that little image you bought begin worth millions someday, go for it. I wish you lots of luck. But I wouldn't count on your "investment" panning out, anymore than I would count on that lottery ticket you bought yesterday hitting the big jackpot.

Naomi Brockwell Is On Noise.cash! / Icky Filipino Breakfasts This is a tale of two separate things, one good, one bad, as explained in the text and pictures. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Famous YouTube celebrity Naomi Brockwell, ( https://www.youtube.com/c/NaomiBrockwellTV/videos ), is on Noise.cash! Check out user @NaomiBrockwell ( https://noise.cash/u/NaomiBrockwell ). Cool beans, huh? Besides being something very good to look at, Naomi produces lots of very interesting videos on her YouTube channel. She posts a link to her latest "CryptoBeat Newsletter" here, so she may be someone you want to subscribe too. Check her out! (That's her in the first pic.) ---------------------------------------------------------------- Suppose you're up bright and early, and you head in to the kitchen for a bite to eat. You see the covered dish, (second pic), only to lift it up and find, (third pic), grilled fish heads! UGH!! Just looking at those things kills my appetite! This is why I always have a supply of dry cereal and fresh milk on hand. ---------------------------------------------------------------- The moral of this little split personality of a post is this: Naomi Brockwell is very, very good. Grilled fish heads are very, very bad. And if you can't tell the difference, I feel sorry for you!

@OldBastard

What Is Going On With "Free Tips"? So I guess Noise.cash has switched to giving us "free tips" which we then can give to other users for their posts/replies? Fine ..... but then how do we go about accumulating these "free tips"? I ask because yesterday morning I had zero, (none, nada, zilch), "free tips" in my account, so when I was responding to replies to my posts, I had to tip out of my own wallet. As you can imagine, this was quite traumatic for a stingy old bastard like me! (And the tips were probably pretty weak too!) It wasn't until some time after lunch that I got a glob of "free tips", which I then was admonished to use. ("We'd like to give you more tips, but we noticed you haven't been using them," or some such message.) Sometimes these "free tips" refresh themselves as I use them, which is great! Other times I give them all out rapidly, and then I am forced to use my own wallet for tipping again. What should we be doing to ensure we receive these "free tips"? As of right now, my account, (which I use fairly often), has about 40¢ in "free tips", whereas my older kid's account, (@kjzthree), had 76¢ worth of "free tips" this morning, and he only uses his account about once every five days or so. Are we being discouraged from using Noise.cash on a daily basis? Surely that doesn't make sense, does it?

@OldBastard

Happy Birthday To Me! A few days ago it was my birthday. My wife had a party for me, and invited relatives and neighbors. So now I'm older and grumpier, but certainly no wiser! Harrumph! In the second and third pic the woman wearing the black and white checked shirt is my sister-in-law. Although she acts shy sometimes, she is not someone you want to anger. When the silly water company shuts off our water and my brother-in-law and I go to their offices to complain, nothing happens. When my sister-in-law goes to complain, the water comes back on the next day AT THE LATEST!

Why Is The Crypto Market Falling? As most of us are painfully aware, the crypto market has been taking a beating recently. Given that crypto remains as viable as ever, and in fact new crypto features are being developed at a furious pace, one may reasonably wonder why this broad fall in price has occurred. In my humble opinion, the fault can be laid directly at the feet of my country, the USA. In the "Land of the Free" citizens such as myself are basically serfs, beholden to our masters to submit a tax return every year, and pay a considerable percentage of our "income" to the American government in taxes. This is true whether we are actually residing in the USA or not. Like the serfs of the Middle Ages, we are legally bound to the land of our birth. Now we all know that crypto is a threat to the existing world banking system. At the top of this system is the US Dollar, recognized by most as the world's reserve currency. How serious a threat do the powers-that-be regard crypto? Hillary Clinton said this recently at a conference in Singapore: "One more area that I hope nation-states start paying greater attention to is the rise of cryptocurrency, because what looks like a very interesting and somewhat exotic effort to literally mine new coins in order to trade with them has the potential for undermining currencies, for undermining the role of the dollar as the reserve currency, for destabilizing nations ...." Given this threat, what is a group of power hungry government leaders to do? In the case of America, the answer is obvious. Grant new powers to their goons at the IRS, who already have us American citizens grasped firmly by the dangly bits, giving them the authority to squeeze even harder. In the USA, using crypto for purchases is BY LAW considered a taxable event. ( https://www.youtube.com/c/CryptoTips/videos ) How the flip these morons think they are going to track and tax every single transaction should people wake up and start using BCH, (or DASH, or LITE, or NANO), as currency is beyond me, but that's the law. It's stupid, and a futile attempt by an obsolete entity to retain its dominance, but until empires like the USA fall or evolve with the times, we're stuck with it. This is why, IMHO, the crypto markets tanked recently. These tax shenanigans by the US Government, (and if you aren't an American, I would imagine the government of your country is planning something equally stupid), are not just an attempt to gather more revenue, but a sneaky way to attempt to cut off the crypto market at its knees. For who wants to use a "currency" that they need to report capital gains/losses on every time they use it? Now you may say, "So what? I'm not an American citizen. The USA can go f*ck itself!" While a nice sentiment, you have to understand that America, while rapidly declining in influence and prestige, is still a 600 pound gorilla jumping up and down on the world stage, and it's outbursts and tantrums may directly affect you, via not-so-subtle force being applied to your country's government. Don't believe me? Then why isn't there a worldwide outcry to punish those responsible for developing Covid19? Is it because the research on this virus began in the USA, and even after the development work was moved to China, was still largely funded by American institutions? How long do you think it will take for your country, with "encouragement" from the USA, to start enacting similar tax laws? If you're an American citizen like me, you might be interested in series of short videos dealing with how new IRS rules affect crypto. Note that the first 30 seconds or so of each video has the same intro, so you might want to skip past that. TAXES ON CRYPTO GAINS! Staking/Farming/Lending - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkFevRKYL9c If I Use Crypto For Purchases is it a Taxable Event? - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVEfewkJg6E Recommended Crypto Reporting Software - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYHytl0aHdo What If I FAIL to Report My Crypto Trades?? - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Qlb4OjGFQw&t=11s What If The U.S. CHANGES the Tax Laws?? - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ei9eiqwo0CU Notice how Heidi is mostly smiling throughout these videos, and at the end of the last one practically breaks out laughing. This is because Heidi has renounced her American citizenship; she no longer lives in fear of the IRS.

Reevaluating Cardano As you may have noticed, Cardano is getting some negative press these days on YouTube. (And even here on Noise.cash.) But how valid is this criticism? First of all, many of the allegedly negative Cardano videos on YouTube are actually bullish on the coin long term, with just a click bait title. I Feel Like A Hypocrite Less than 24 hours ago I made a post complaining about how I wasn't receiving much BCH since this new update to the Noise.cash site. I wrote this because, ever since the update, my "earnings", (can we really claim to "earn" anything here?), have been declining, culminating in a 9 cent day just before I wrote that post. Well guess what happened? I got up this morning, checked my BCH wallet, and overnight I accumulated the most BCH I have ever done in a single day! While I love the BCH, I kinda embarrassed about this. It appears this was another case of me "crying wolf" before I knew all the facts. So ...... I'd like to apologize to all the users here to whom I may have given the false impression that Noise.cash wasn't going to pay out well anymore, and I'd especially like to apologize to the Noise.cash admins, who I am sure have enough to deal with rather than someone's rants about not receiving a big enough reward, when his rewards are already excessive. Finally, I enlisted the services of a professional, to help express how I feel about this screwup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrJ2jc6qfzA .

Dealing With Wakwaks Here in western Mindanao, Philippines, where the majority of the population is ostensibly Christian, old superstitions still abound. When malevolent spirits make their presence known, people pay attention, and take the necessary precautions to protect themselves. My wife, her sister, and several lady friends were today discussing a scary recent event. This supposedly happened two months ago, in a nearby Purok. A pregnant woman was at home with her husband one night when they heard loud scratching outside, and the unmistakeable howling of a cat. The noise kept getting louder and louder until the husband, angry and concerned for his wife, took a pot of boiling water outside and hurled it onto a large black cat. The cat howled in pain, and scampered off into the darkness. The next day everyone was on edge when one of their neighbors went early in the morning to the local clinic, to get treated for a burn on his arm. Coincidence? A worse account of wakwaks takes place in a nearby village. There is a very nice house in the rich folks section of this village which is not only unfinished, but apparently abandoned. The story behind this house, as my wife tells it, is that one day one of the workmen never woke up from his post-lunch break. While tragic, it became downright terrifying when, within the same week, two more workmen also died in their sleep while on break. All further work on the house was immediately halted, and it remains empty to this day. Folks are convinced that evil spirits reside in it; no one who knows anything about its history will dare attempt to finish its construction. I would have liked to take a picture of this house and attach it to this post, but my wife forbids it. Like most Filipinos, she is very superstitious. While I don't believe in ghosts, evil spirits, or wakwaks, I do respect that "Shaky Willy" had a point when he wrote the following: "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." I'm not a fervent believer by any stretch of the imagination, but I do believe in God, and I do honor and respect the wisdom that can be found in the Bible. The Bible does not necessarily dispute the existence of ghosts, witches, and wakwaks, but it does tell us to not dwell on these unfortunate beings, but to put our faith in the goodness of God, who will keep these evil spirits from causing us harm. * Seek the light, and let its positive vibrations reflect off you into the world, and wakwaks will shy away from you, retreating back into the darkness where they belong. ----------------------------------------------------------------- * I don't really read the Bible, so if I have misrepresented something here please correct me. But my understanding is that God wants us to put our trust in him, and not worry about wakwaks and other critters of the night. Dealing with wakwaks is basically the same as dealing with any other big problem. Let go and let God.

Waa, Waa!! This New Update Has Taken My BCHs Away! As recently as about a week-and-a-half ago, I would happily spend lots of time on Noise.cash each day, puttering around with one thing or another, and as often as not earn a USD amount of BCH in the double digits. It was friggin' GREAT! Then the latest update arrived a few days ago, and since then my BCH earnings have tanked. I spent a considerable amount of time yesterday responding to replies, and commenting on posts, and for my efforts it appears I got ...... 9¢. That's right, nine whole friggin' cents!! I knew the double digits "earnings" wouldn't last forever, that sooner or later this site would have to come back down to financial reality. But it's still disappointing not to be able to rip out a quick reply or three, and know that I am actually being paid very well for my "work". How about you? Did this latest update affect your earning rate? If so, did it go up or down?

@OldBastard

Now I Can't Friggin' Renoise? Grr!!! ***UPDATE: kind users have informed me that if you tap the dropdown, then enter your username, (e.g., @OldBastard), then you will be able to renoise just fine. Noise.cash keeps evolving, and some of the changes are better than others, and some kinda suck. For example, if you try to renoise now, you have to put your renoise in a "channel"? (Is this true, or just another "user error" committed by yours truly?) I wanted to renoise an excellent reply by @DonThomas, a real German, to my post on the "Gesundheitspass", but I couldn't figure out how other than jamming it in a channel somewhere. So here is a link to his reply, and a teaser of what he wrote so that you'll be overcome with curiosity, and go check it out. https://noise.cash/post/lv5gn0xg (Be sure to give him a nice tip!) "Ok my friend, I as a born German can solve this easily, this document is nothing really bad its a papre what states all the jabs or vaccines a person has got in his or her entire life so it just states against what kind of illneses a person in Germany was vaccined." "This paper is the today called in Germany "Impfausweis" and is actually and for a long time (mine is 59 years old and it looks the same in Spain and other countries normaly its yellow) used worldwide as blueprint for all international healthpasses." I actually had one of these once, to show I had tetanus and hepatitis shots, as I remember, and yes it was a small, yellow colored, passport sized document. Unfortunately I have no idea where that thing is today, or whether I even still have it. How much more convenient it would be to have all this info digitized, then stored on a tiny readable biometric device which could be injected under our skin, right? :-(

@OldBastard

Yes, The Nazis Had One Too This post is inspired by a comment made by @Elearah found here: https://noise.cash/post/lpp8r39v . It is about the Nazi Health Pass. I did a quick Google search, and got what seems to my simple mind pretty conclusive verification that this "Gesundheitspass" was actually implemented.* Remember that, all you folks who believe that a vaccination verification card of any type is actually a good thing. I have no idea who ZUBY@ ZubyMusic is, (I may be a twit, but I don't use twitter), but I think he sums all this craziness up succinctly and accurately. (See the second attached pic.) If you WANT to get the Covid19 jab, then by all means do so; I'll support you as best I can in how you choose to live your life, and what you consider best for your body. But please do NOT support any sort of Covid19 jab mandate, where people are coerced, (and probably soon forced against their will), into allowing themselves to be injected with something they'd prefer not to be. ============================================================ * My main reference was this article, https://worldnewstrust.com/reminder-mentioning-the-nazi-health-pass-is-forbidden-mickey-z , from which the two attached pics were swiped. Make Millions Of Dollars With Your Own Meme Coin Frustrated with how people are throwing money at these stupid meme coins, (** cough, cough ** Shiba Inu), YouTuber Biaheza, ( https://www.youtube.com/c/biaheza/videos ), decided a few days ago to make a video showing just how easy it would be to create a doggy poop token of your own. Make a Million Dollar Meme Coin in an Hour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dYc966_o4I Cool, huh? Unfortunately, what Biaheza did not count on was that, despite him clearly stating NOT TO BUY THIS TOKEN, people would go out and do exactly that. His Fluffy Coin, (FLUF), is a hit, as you can verify by going to Coingecko.com. ( https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/fluffy-coin ) Believe it or not, this puts him in a bit of a dilemma. He still owned 40% of all FLUF tokens, and if he were an asshole like many other YouTube "influencers", he could have sold his tokens, collected his millions, and retired to his private island where scantily clan young island girls would feed him grapes and beer all day. But Biaheza is a good guy, so he made this follow up video where he described how he was going to try to extricate himself from this mess: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-l-ba69P_Sc . He's still begging with folks NOT to buy this silly token, but as you can see from the recent Coingecko chart, no one seems to be listening. Are you ethically challenged? Would you be willing to create and rug pull a worthless meme token? How much money is necessary for you to sell out other people for your own gain? Be careful what you are buying out there folks, and don't let your emotion of greed override your rational sense.

A Fantastic YouTube Channel You Must Check Out! Seriously! Stop what you're doing right now, and go over to the Whiteboard Crypto channel on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/c/WhiteboardCrypto/videos I can hear the bellyaching already. "C'mon OB, you old fart! Not all of us have the leisure to sit around all day watching YouTube videos. Some of us have actual jobs, and families, and lives outside of our internet screens." Yes, I understand that. I'm sorry I didn't find this channel earlier, because I would have recommended it first. It seems to be a relatively new channel, and thus may not pop up readily in YouTube/Google searches. But it is worth your time to check out these videos. (Unless, of course, you don't want to learn how to earn 30% interest on your crypto!) So Much For A Quiet Day! So Much For Saving Money!! After spending 10+ hours in a car yesterday being driven across northern Mindanao, (thank God I didn't have to do the actual driving!), I was hoping to just lay about the house today, being subdued and lazy. But ....... First a bunch of folks showed up with a goat to "bless" our new truck. (We went to CDO yesterday to buy a new farm truck. That's TWO vehicles I've purchased in less than 12 months! No wonder we're broke!) We gave them the Captain Morgan rum we bought yesterday, and they and their families had a good time eating goat meat. And goat intestines! Ugh!! Then some relatives stopped by on their way to Mindanao, so they joined the impromptu "party". Right now the party has mostly moved outside, and the guys are getting drunk. Women don't seem to get drunk as much here. Is that a Filipino cultural thing, that the men drink but the women don't? As you can see by the pics, we seem to have a "thing" for white trucks. The Isuzu is a 4x4 D-Max, and the Suzuki is a Carry. The Suzuki was kinda a forced purchase. Our multi-cab finally died about a month ago, and we didn't have a vehicle dedicated to the farm. This is because the Isuzu was originally bought with the idea that we, (my immediate family), would use it to tour the Philippines. At least that was the plan until I realized how insane driving around here really is. Thank God the banks who own my credit cards have a lot of money, and they are more than happy to give some to me. Unfortunately, they eventually want it all back. In the meantime they charge me interest, about 27%!! Grr!!! So now we will be struggling each month to pay off these stupid credit card "loans". The new truck wasn't the only thing we bought in CDO yesterday. We stopped by the S&R store, and spent over $1,000 USD on all sorts of wonderful yummy things for us to munch on during the next few weeks. Considering our out-of-control, (at the moment), spending, I suppose I could write a book titled, "How To Go Broke In The Philippines: A Guide For Westerners". As we are beginning to prove, doing so isn't difficult.

Who Is @kjzthree, And Should You Care? There's a new user on Noise.cash, @kjzthree . The posts on this ID are mostly written by my 12 year old son, with some editing by yours truly for readability. I also enter a few posts as dictated to me by my 7 year old son. If you like Minecraft you may find some of the posts under that ID interesting. My kids aren't into crypto yet, so I doubt they will be writing much about BCH. In the 8+ months since I joined Noise.cash, the signup process seems to have changed significantly. I don't see any way that you can change your password once you create it, and it appears you MUST now use the built in Noise.cash online wallet. The good news is that I won't be cluttering up my OldBastard account with posts about "Five Nights At Freddy's" anymore. Hooray!!

Is Your Crypto Secure? Well, is it? Regardless of how you answer that question, you should watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7f997oTdb04 . If you still feel your crypto is secure after watching it, congratulations! But I bet the majority of us don't feel that way! Crypto Casey, ( https://www.youtube.com/c/CryptoCasey/videos ) is another YouTube crypto related channel that I just started following, along with my old favorites listed here: Coin Bureau: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqK_GSMbpiV8spgD3ZGloSw Crypto Grubber: https://www.youtube.com/c/CryptoGrubber/videos Crypto Tips: https://www.youtube.com/c/CryptoTips/videos EatTheBlocks: https://www.youtube.com/c/EatTheBlocks/videos Every Bit Helps: https://www.youtube.com/c/EveryBitHelps/videos Max Maher: https://www.youtube.com/c/MaxMaher/videos Naomi Brockwell: https://www.youtube.com/c/NaomiBrockwellTV/videos VoskCoin: https://www.youtube.com/c/VoskCoin/videos OldBastard, you senile old fool! That is WAY TOO MANY channels for me to keep up with! I can't possibly watch that many videos! Don't worry; I can't either! But it is good to cross check any info you get from one video against a video on the same topic from another channel. For example, regarding hardware wallets, on Coin Bureau they recommend Trezor over Ledger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_t3Brlb0qzQ . However, Ledger seems to be the choice on Crypto Tips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwDYz7bLEOM . Besides questioning which hardware wallet to use, Crypto Casey got taken to task a bit for recommending bank safety deposit boxes. I personally would NOT use a bank safety deposit box, because your (not) friendly government could at any time legally seize all its contents. But if you aren't as paranoid as me, it may be a safe option. ======================================================== P.S. - some other possibly interesting videos.
