Temperament is our inborn trait. Your nature and the effect it has on the way you think and behave. We think differently, we behave differently, we feel differently depending on our personality type. All lot of research has been carried out to measure differences between people and the different between the kind of people we have, some people are extrovert while some are introvert. Extrovert respond to things that goes on around them while introvert respond to things that goes on inside them. There are four types of temperament: we have, the sanguine, choleric, melancholy and phlegmatic. Choleric is a goal oriented person. sanguine is a happy goal person,always exited, sociable, friendly. Melancholy is a super introvert, highly gifted and artistic, creative, idealistic. Phlegmatic is a calm easy going person. Each of this temperament has strength and weakness. When you are able to identify and overcome your weaknesses, you are on your way to maturity. The major way of turning your weakness to strength means you are on your way to maturity. Now lets talk about the strengths and weaknesses of each one of them;
▪The Choleric: is a goal oriented person, an achiever, they are self-disciplined, if they set a standard for themselves they usually achieve it within a short period of time. Also, they are tenacious and persistent, never give up easily, they are practical, they are pragmatic in their thinking , they are decisive, they deal with facts and get frustrated with too much details. They are born leaders because they are adventurous, self confidence, they are risk taker. This a very rich and powerful temperament.
-Weaknesses: the major challenge of a choleric is hostility, infact sometimes wicked , they can keep malice with a person. They don’t mind hurting people sometimes when they are not happy, thay can be insensitive, they are not usually moved with tears. When a choleric is not happy with you they can make life miserable for you, violent anger, they are usually not afraid of anybody, they are very blunt when they talk, they can use their tongue to hurt if they are angry, strongly opinionated, they tend to be argumentative, they can be controlling, they can be crafty and manipulative.
▪The Sanguine: they have awesome strength, very sociable, friendly- they make friends easily. Fantastic story-tellers, they are wonderful public speaker and marketers. They respond to people’s emotion easily, they are tender hearted, very compassionate, they are usually optimistic about life and are very usually enthusiastic. They are fun-loving; they like to enjoy life at the present to the fullest .
-weaknesses: lack of discipline, they have pride-ego, they can be inconsistent, fear of disapproval, sometimes they exaggerate.
▪The Melancholy: psychologist says this is the richest of all the temperaments. Very very high IQ. A good chunk of the geniuses of the world today are melancholy, idealistic, perfectionist, creative they are usually artist, musicians, inventors. They are very analytical, very reliable, loyal to friends, they are self sacrificing.
-weaknesses: they can be negative, they always have mood swings, they tend worry a lot, they are inflexible,
▪The phlegmatic: calm, easy-going, no trouble, they don’t like confrontation, very dependable, they have the capacity to manage details, very efficient, highly organised, good planners. They usually very humorous and very diplomatic because they don’t like quarrelling. They are a lot very good under pressure,
-weaknesses- lack of ambition and lack of drive, low on risk taking, calculating about like and very stubborn in a diplomatic way, they can also be selfish.
Conclusion, your temperament has a lot to do with the way you think and behave. When you work on your weaknesses you will see yourself achieving awesome things.
