"I didn't say it so you would feel sad; I didn't say it to hear it back.
I just wanted you to know, that i will always love you."
Some time had passed since I heard from Joy, and I wondered what she was up to.
The whole school was in a sad mood, and I didn't know what caused the students to put on such faces, it looked like someone was going to die, and I didn't know who they were.
Later on that day, I heard something that destroyed my day, and it was something that I wished would have never happened.
I knew Joy was a confident and proud girl who would fight for what she believed was right, and she would never allow anyone to belittle her.
But I never expected her to provoke the biggest delinquent in our school.
She had slapped and mocked him for bullying a junior, and this made him so angry that if the teacher weren't there at that moment, he would have made sure she paid for it.
My mind went utterly haywire the moment I heard this; I couldn't even believe what I heard and wasn't even sure it was accurate at the moment.
"What is wrong with her, why would she do such a thing."
Maybe she didn't know Eric because she was a new student if only I had told her.
Eric was the biggest delinquent in our school, and because his parents were wealthy and supported the school, no one could do anything about him.
He was known as "The Beast" because he was famous for beating all male and female students.
His actions scared everyone, and some students changed schools or stopped coming entirely; that is how big of a problem Eric was.
Some rumors even said he was involved in the drug trade and organizing some underground fighting, but this was a bit too much because he was in high school, and he couldn't be doing such things.
I was having difficulty focusing in class, and my mind was trying to think of ways to get her out of the problem she got herself in, but what exactly can a junior like me do against "The Beast".
I couldn't beat him up or report him, and I still respected him as a senior because those were my principles.
"What do I do now? I can't even report to the teachers because I have no idea what he would do, or where he would act out his revenge. I am so useless damn."
I was deep in thought, and I forgot lunch break had started.
"Ah, it has already started, let's go", my classmate said.
"What has started, I wonder what they are talking about."
I look through the window and see the assembly ground surrounded by students who form a circle.
In the middle of the circle, I see Eric standing menacingly with his fellow bullies, and in the other corner was "JOYYYYY, what is she doing there, does this girl have no fear whatsoever?"
I immediately remember that teachers always had a compulsory meeting on Wednesdays, and they stayed in their lounge, which was quite far from the school premises. Can you imagine?
What sort of luck is this? Is all this some story written by a maniac who doesn't want things to work out for Joy? I can't believe this.
As I say this, I start hearing voices from the assembly ground; Joy's voice; she was talking.
"Who gave you the right to hit a student?"
We all came here to study and make our parents proud, but some of us can't even do that because of your constant bullying, which makes them feel unsafe.
You call yourself a senior, but your actions are not even showing you are.
A senior is someone who opens a path for their juniors and leads them into being good students.
To me, you are nothing more than a jerk and idiot who only thinks he is important because of his parent's wealth.
You are garbage, and even if you beat me right now, you are still garbage Eric."
Everyone stood still when she finished saying this; no one could believe their ears.
"Did she really say all that" "Now she is dead"
Enraged by what she said, Eric rushes towards her and pulls her up, getting ready to teach her a lesson.
Suddenly, he feels pain in his head and turns to see a raged Leo throwing stones at him.
"She told you the truth, and now you want to beat her up.
Is that all you are suitable for, the stupid bully; you are the worst of the worst.
You may be significant and rich, but that is all you are a piece of garbage. Why don't you beat the person throwing stones at you now?
I finally stood up to the bully, and I was prepared for what would happen next. But I didn't expect the punch to be so fast.
Immediately I finished speaking, I received the fastest punch I had ever seen in my life, and I was knocked unconscious. But I could still feel the punches that he gave me.
Everyone looked as Eric beat Leo to a pulp, and the assembly was dead silent, with only the sound of Eric punches breaking it.
It seemed like it would never end until someone started throwing rocks at Eric.
It was Freya, and her eyes were filled with tears.
Everyone joins her and starts throwing anything in their hands, and Joy brings teachers to reprimand Eric.
The students return to their classroom, and Leo is taken to the infirmary.
A few hours later, Leo wakes up to see someone holding his hand.
It was Freya, and she immediately hugged him.
Joy enters the room and sees them hugging; she rushes outside and sits down with a sad look.
THE BRAVE ONES- END
What does this hug mean for Freya and Leo's relationship? Would Leo reciprocate her feelings? And how would Joy feel about this?
Find out in the next chapter! See you then!
This sort of thing mostly happens in movies, in real life Leo would have ended up not receiving any help as he is battered by Eric. In some situations it's just better to remain silent and let things just pass on its own than to try and be brave and end up getting killed. Just imagine someone trying to be brave in the face of armed robbers
