Zainul Abedin was a Bangladeshi painter. He was well known in 1944 for his series of painting " the great famines in Bangladesh" during british colonial perio. For his great worked his homeland people honored him " SHILPACHARJO","GREAT TEACHER OF ARTS".
In 1948, he helped to establish Institute of Arts & Crafts at University of Dhaka. The Indian Express described him an legendary Bangladeshi painter. His famous painting is Bengali famine 1943.
Abedin was involved in the Bangladesh libaretion war movement. He was at the forefront of the cultural movement to reestablish the bengali identity, marginalized by the Pakistan government. In 1969, Abedin painted a scroll using Chinese link , watercolor and wax named NABANNA. In 1975, he founded folk art museum at Sonargaon in Narayanganj.
