Science fiction is a genre that explores technology, space, and time travel. Sci-fi films have been around since the first movies were created and they're still going strong today!
Here are a few of our favorite science fiction movies from throughout history.
Star Wars
The original Star Wars trilogy featured a universe filled with aliens, spaceships, and battles in space. This series found its way into the hearts of many sci-fi fans who have been dying for a new movie ever since they finished watching Return of the Jedi in 1983.
Big Hero 6
In 2014, Disney released an action packed adventure entitled Big Hero 6. This computer animated superhero film takes place in fictional San Fransokyo, a futuristic mashup of San Francisco and Tokyo. In this story, Hiro meets Baymax who helps him on his adventure to stop a super villain who's trying to take over the world.
North by Northwest
Alfred Hitchcock is known for making suspenseful movies that keep you on the edge of your seat and North by Northwest is no exception. This thriller follows Roger Thornhill, a man who gets mistaken for another person and has to deal with death-defying situations. The music in this movie amps up the drama and adds an extra element to an already nerve-wracking story.
Interstellar
I recently watched Interstellar and found it incredibly entertaining! In this film, people are struggling to survive after Earth becomes uninhabitable due to Dust Bowl-like conditions caused by drought. Interstellar tells the story of different groups of people trying to find other planets suitable for human life while also exploring the limits of human knowledge.
The Martians
The Martian is a movie based on the popular book by Andy Weir. Before this film was released in theaters, it became an instant sci-fi bestseller and many fans went to see it as soon as possible. The story takes place on Mars where an astronaut becomes stranded after his crew leaves without him. He has to use his knowledge of science and engineering to survive until he can be rescued.
Monsters Inc
In 2001, Monsters Inc changed how people saw children's movies forever! This clever Pixar animation follows Sully and Mike who find that laughter is ten times louder than screams when they discover monsters are living in children's closets around the world and using their screams for energy.
Chronicle
There have been countless superhero movies over the years but none quite like Chronicle. This independent film focuses on Andrew, Matt, and Steve who gain telekinetic abilities after they make an incredible discovery underground. Instead of using their powers to save people or become heroes, these teenagers abuse their abilities for personal gain.
WALL-E
WALL-E is an animated Disney film, a robot who lives alone on Earth after it's evacuated by humans because of all the trash that covers its surface. Eventually, EVE is sent to find him so he can pilot her back so other robots can return to clean up the planet.
The best sci-fi movies are filled with action and suspense but they're also about more than just thrills! They teach us about human nature and help us see what could be possible in our future.
This list could go on forever, but these are some of my favorite science fiction movies that you should definitely check out if you haven't already. They're the perfect movie to watch in the evening at home with your friends or family!

Star wars is my favorite from this list and of course the IV, V and VI episodes are the best for me. Then I would go for I, II and III, then the rest.
