He is Beyond Us

There are lots people who consider themselves as high-and-mighty beings. They see themselves as superior over others just because of their high status in the society, their wealth, power and their connections.

April 24,2022 (Sunday) 10:00 P.M.

A wonderful sunday evening to everyone. How well did you spend your day? To me, this day was special because I got the priviledge to honor and glorify God's name. Even though I am far away from my home church, I got the chance to participate in an online Sunday Service, sang songs of praise and listened to His Word. For a moment, I was downhearted because I wasn't able to get home and listened to the preaching physically but I was blessed enough to listened to it virtually. It doesn't matter where you are but what matter is the intention of your heart. Do it for the advancement of His glory. I thank God for His goodness, for the gift of life, for His mercy and love, and for His abounding grace. Soli Deo Gloria

King is a symbol of power and greatness . He is supreme, all-powerful, and his dominion is felt all over his kingdom. He has the authority and his voice is the law. If he issues a decree, you won't wish to disobey it because you'll risk yourself of ending up being in a cell, be severly reprimanded or worse. Hence, follow.

To follow a command or to be a good follower is expected us because of a pretty obvious reason, we are under the subject of a governing authority. We are citizens and under the mandate of our country. We abide the law as long as it is just and humane . But, what if there is oppression? What if some people exploit their power? and what if they do overstep their limitation then trample and abuse you? Would you fight and stand up for your rights? Or would you rather entrust it to the one who has the ultimate authority? To the One who is Beyond us?

Let me briefly share to you the story of Daniel and how his faithfulness save him and earned him glory.

Daniel and his friends Shadrach, Messhac, and Abednigo were held captive in Babylon by the time of King Nebuchadnezzar's reign. They were taken into the court room for they were chosen to be the king's wise men. They were pressured by the peole to forget their ways of life and to eat of the food and drink of the wine offered to them but it was against the commandments of God. So, they stood firm to their faith and the Lord gave them wisdom. They did not eat of the meat and drink of the wine instead they asked for water and grains for 10 days. They were laughed at many thought they would end up dead. But the Lord sustained them. Instead of getting weak or dying they became healthier, much healthier than any other young men in Babylon. In the end, they became the wisest and healthiest men in the kingdom and so the king kept them.

What is the moral lesson of the story?

  • For the Oppressor

Having a high rank in the society doesn't give you a permission to treat others unfairly. It is not a passport nor a lisence for you to do so. You don't have the right to belittle and treat others as if their rights and wishes are not valid. Do not think of others as unworthy of respect because they belong to the marginalized class or because they don't have the same life as you, and the same privileges you you are enjoying.

It is never and will ever be right to bully others and think of ourselves more significant than them. Let us all remember status, wealth and possessions are temporal. They'll vanish into thin air if we will not nurture and use it for a good purpose.

  • For the oppressed

If the battle is not worth fighting for then it is not yours to face off . Do not give in to all the evil schemes of this world. Strengthen your resolve. Be faithful. Everything is under His control. Be still and entrust it to the Sovereign of us all. He is greater that all of the greatest king in kingdoms—He is God and He is beyond us.
