"Screentime for Teens and Adults"
In this hastily going world most of the adults, children, and teens are using screens. For children it is recognized in various places that screen time is fixed but for adults and teens there had been no reasonable timings put forward by anyone in any study, you have to keep in mind that,
“it’s overuse is harmful”
and maintain a good time table for using the screen. I’m also addicted to my phone but former few years I have brought many variations in my timetable and now I think everyone should at least attempt to lessen the overuse of technology such as TVs and cell phones.
Reasons why teens and adults spend most of their waking hours on screen :
It is observed in most of the homes that people are connected with the whole world on the internet but they don’t know anything about the circumstances of a person living in his own house.
Entertainment:
Everyone loves to entertain themselves and media is the most reachable item to get entertained.
Distancing from surrounding people:
Sometimes people want to avoid others around them and want some space, this space is provided to them when they keep themselves involved on social media.
Dating online:
Online dating has become a very famous “try must” these days. Social media enables us to meet other singles, we check their accounts, go to their profile pictures, and have an impression about how they are on just one page.
To gain Popularity:
Everyone loves to click pretty pictures and post them on Instagram, then wait for the comebacks from their friends and family, even including me. After getting millions of likes you feel like an Instagram model.
Access to the entire world:
Internet or social- media gives us access to the world, we can engage with the people we never knew from around the world and we enjoy knowing them.
All these points enhance the use of social media more and more but you never know how harmful it is and how everyone is wasting their lives with these little things by using cell phones most of the waking hours.
Its effects on one's physical and mental health:
It is found that screen time not only affects your mental but physical health too. People wasting time on computers, cellphones or TVs complains about body aches, sitting for a longer time in front of a screen has also effects on your sitting posture.
Trouble in keeping your everyday routine.
It makes you more unfit.

Going to bed without screens, 90% of the Americans stated in a survey that they don’t let their children use phones 30 minutes before sleeping time. One shouldn't use a phone before going to bed. What you can do instead of watching the screen, grab a storybook and read it. It won’t only keep your screen time-limited but also improves your vocabulary and make you fall asleep faster.
When you are working on the screen after every 20 minutes look away from it at distant objects for at least 20 seconds.
Avoid eating in front of the screen, it keeps you less focused on the food and this is the reason you eat more which then leads to obesity.

As you being an adult are addicted to screen time, in the same manner, your children are also addicted to it. It doesn’t matter what the quality of screen time is, whether they are watching cartoons, movies, or playing games. What matters is the quantity they are using screen time.
How to make your children avoid more screen-time:
Give them extra time.
Keep them busy in extracurricular activities.
Make them stick to their time table.
Instead of playing games on phone make them play outdoor games.
Arrange parties for them at home with friends.
Take them to the cinema but only on Sundays.
Children younger than 5 years should use the screen limitedly and for educational purposes only.
