7th Wedding Anniversary Day 1
Tip for those who are planning on getting married soon - pick a regular holiday as a wedding date and you’ll have no excuse to celebrate your anniversary.
That’s what we did, my husband and I back in the year 2015 were not sure of which date should be our wedding day but we believed that it must be a holiday in Cebu City. It was late 2014 when we prepared our requirements, planned a civil wedding, not luxurious at all, just a simple one with the immediate family, I for one do not want an extravagant wedding, I don’t want James’ parents and mine too be burdened with the preparation, nor don’t want us to be stressed with so many things, we just want to get married.
And so, since our requirements were ready, we just thought well, February 24 is a holiday in Cebu City so it is a good time to get married in the province. This is a regular holiday, it’s the city’s charter day so getting married in the province without going on vacation leave is perfect! We never thought this has a huge impact on our lives, it was just later on that we realized that it is a holiday meant we have no excuses to celebrate our marriage.
A way to enrich a marriage is to always celebrate small wins. Celebrating doesn’t mean spending much, it just requires the two of you to have a united mind and a committed heart.
For us, we always try to celebrate it with vacation because we are both travel lovers.
I guess it was 2020 and 2021 when we were not able to go out due to the pandemic so it is a great thing to be finally able to go to another place for our anniversary.
I looked for a private space for us in Panglao. I picked Pineale Villa Bohol. Fortunately, they were on sale, just Php 1850 for a one-bedroom villa! That’s great so two weeks before the anniversary, I had it reserved and paid the reservation fees.
A few days before the trip, I shared it with my niece and asked if she could come. I thought that’s a good idea so we have someone to also look after Matti and play with him. Traveling with just the two of us is now gone, we have an infant this time and it is so much different as he is our priority this time.
Anyway, early morning on the 24th, we hailed into our car and drove to Tagbilaran City where we fetched the niece. Then since our check-in time was still at 3 pm, we headed to Ibabaw Gardens for lunch. This was a great restaurant! I love its vibe but we overstayed our welcome due to James’ annual physical exam, yes, he went to a medical clinic for a scheduled APE, leaving me and the niece and Matti at this restaurant which closes at 2 PM, we were there from 12-3 PM though, waiting for James to finish up his medical exam. I was okay if we had something to put Matti on while he sleeps but no, I had to carry him and he is now very heavy!
Before heading here too, we also had visited a mall where we bought Matti's water gun and some necessities for our stay, food, snacks, water, and drinks.
But all was well, we got to the resort by four, an hour late from the check-in time, but that’s fine. We appreciated the nice villa, it has a pool, a jacuzzi, a bedroom with flat screen tv, a kitchen with cooking pans available, plates, and utensils, a fridge, a touchpad top stove, a couch, a dining table, so basically, all we needed for the next 24 hours!
We had to take aways from Ibabaw Garden, we just reheat that for dinner, we cooked rice and had fun in the pool.
Now, I realized, it was so much different traveling for our anniversary with kids with us. We can’t have our quality time! Now and then, the baby would ask for something, we had to focus on him, entertain him, feed him, at the end of the day, while I wanted us to enjoy some time with each other, we were all tired, we always are tired and just went to bed right away. Oh, it’s even nicer because the bed was comfortable, thick foam, clean, and had very nice comforters and sheets, I slept right away while breastfeeding Matti!
Every single time that we check-in in a nice place, we would think of designing our future house with such and it was true with this villa. The whole one-bedroom villa was 110 square meters and it is just spacious enough for us, with a huge bath and shower and a bedroom with a minimalist design. I super love it. I can ditch the pool and just make a vegetable garden. But of course, we still have to ask God for a budget so we can build such kind of house.
But anyway, it was great being able to have our privacy while in Panglao.
