Spending time together with nature

I'm an avid fan of nature hopping and I am thankful that I have a better half who also loves to do nature adventures as much as I do. Every year, we find time to visit places especially when there was no pandemic yet. We were able to visit Hundred Islands, Gigantes Islands, Palawan and local places here in the Davao Region. We do this also as part of our couple bonding.

For this year, since there are many travel restrictions, we were able to have a couple trip and nature hopping here in our place only. So let me take you to our nature hopping experience at Cabuaya, City of Mati.

Traveling at Dawn

One could reach Cabuaya by land or sea, it is 3-4 hours travel from the City Proper. In our case, we travelled at dawn - 12:30 A.M. through a pump boat. It was my first time to travel through pump boat at dawn but the sea was so calm and the moon serves as our light. The pump boat operator was just confident to travel because of the good weather condition.

We reached our destination at 3:30 A.M. and the bed was really calling me because one could not sleep on a pump boat because of the noise. I slept and when I woke up this view comes to my sight.

Isn't it very nice? This is the reason why I love this place because the beach is free, it's natural and you can just have time talking with the locals. In this place, we eat fresh catch fish and you can just do the swimming if you would like. This is the place of my hubby's parents and we are blessed that their area is really in front the beach.

Nature Adventure Activities

So what were the activities we do for our trip?

We tried fishing, my husband loves to do fishing, in fact we are accompanied by our friends who are fish anglers who purposely go there for their hobby. He used a commercial fishing rod and lure.

But, we don't catch any fish this time yet we enjoyed the view and the time together. I was also able to take photos and videos of the rock formations and views of the place.

We also have camping near the beach. Talking to each other, reminiscing memories together and looking forward for our future plans. It's nice to have a time to have heart to heart talk, with no kids running around. But of course, our talks were still about our kids.

Hiking and waterfall adventure. In our trip, this is one of my favorite, we were able to visit a waterfalls which is only known by the locals and it is still so natural.

Before you can reach here, you can ride a motorcycle up to the place where they can still reach and then hiking for 20 minutes. But I believe, the locals can just walk it in 1o minutes because they are so familiar with the trail. The water was so cold and clean and I loved it. I would really love to go back to this waterfalls sometime. We just spend a quick time here because we need to visit hubby's grandmother before we go home.

The Abundance of Nature

This place has abundance of resources. There were a plenty of harvest of fishes from our fish trap and our friends caught some fishes too. The fishes with the blue background were bigger in size compared to the ones in the first picture. We were also able to eat fresh "lato" or sea grapes fresh from the sea.

Our nature adventure lasted for 2 days and 2 nights and we need to go home, back to our kids of whom we missed for that time. We still travel by sea but this time, on day light at the afternoon from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. I enjoyed watching the mountains and the flying fishes while on travel back home.

Closing thoughts

Time with nature is one of the best times especially when you spend it with people you love. Once in while, every couple should have time together for bonding and to deepen the relationship as time goes by. When the couple have kids, at most the time are given to kids but the intimacy of the couple should always be there. So, for this travel, we enjoyed our travel together with nature at its best.
