Hacking has got the attention of most websites and companies who use technology for their operations. This article contains the top five hackers.
1.Kevin Mitnick
He is an American hacker who started as a teen. In 1981, he was charged with stealing computer manuals from Pacific Bell. In 1982, he hacked the North American Defense Command (NORAD), an achievement that inspired the 1983 film War Games. In 1989, he hacked Digital Equipment Corporation's (DEC) network and made copies of their software. Because DEC was a leading computer manufacturer at the time, this act put Mitnick on the list. He was later arrested and sent to prison. During his conventional release, he hacked Pacific Bell's voicemail systems
He never exploited the data he got. He now works with the FBI and offers ethical hacking courses
2.Anonymous
Anonymous is a decentralized international activist/hacktivist movement that is widely known for its various cyber attacks against several governments, government institutions and government agencies, corporations, and the Church of Scientology.They exposes small groups and sometimes police. Just recently he exposes the Minneapolis police and blocked their site. According to the the New Yorker, while the FBI and other law enforcement agencies have tracked down some of the group's more prolific members, the lack of any real hierarchy makes it almost impossible to identify or eliminate Anonymous as a whole.
3.Kevin Poulsen
Nicknamed Dark Dante he started when he was 17 years old. In 1983,he hacked ARPANET but he was convicted because he wasn't a pro at that time. He kept on revealing government secrets until he was caught. He works as a journalist who writes about cybersecurity. He become famous when he hacked the telephone line of a radio station, to make sure he was the number 102 listener and to win Porsche, a vacation and USD 20,000 in 1990.
4.Adrian Lamo
He is known as the ‘vagabond hacker’. He moved from internet cafes to the other carrying out his hacks. He hacks system and tells the media about it. And help other companies to resolve their vulnerability. He was arrested for 6 months and currently works as a journalist
5.Michael Calce
He is known as 'Mafia boy'. He started when he was 15 years. On Valentine’s Day in 2000 he took control of several university computers to use their combined resources to launch the DDoS attacks. The attacks shut down Yahoo. he launched denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks against Dell, eBay, CNN and Amazon by saturating corporate servers. His was betrayed by his friends when he started boasting about his achievement to them. He was sentenced to one year of probation, limited access to the Internet and had to pay a fine. He became a computer security consultant for important companies.This made people raise concern about cybersecurity because the sites were being hacked.
