Is anyone else having trouble accessing #GoodDollar today? It's telling me "Access Denied; Error Code 1020. You do not have access to wallet.gooddollar.org. The site owner may have set restrictions that prevent you from accessing the site..." I wonder if they're down or if it's just on my side...

Life isn't going to wait for the crypto markets. A year ago I built up a nice collection of coins, with the plan to wait it out until the value gets to roughly 10x what I put in. I had dreams of using the payout to buy the things that our generation would normally get into crippling debt for - house, car, kids... and to set my parents up for a comfortable retirement. But life keeps moving forward and the markets don't care about goals and dreams, so now we have to go back to relying on ways to grow traditional finance in a traditional way. It feels like when we got out of the nineties and sighed in relief that we no longer had to deal with the awkward fashion trends of the nineties - only to see it all come back into fashion 20 years later. We can't seem to escape traditional finance.

I'm sure this applies to many of you too... I've been having trouble finding balance in my life. I've been so focused on what other people need (clients, friends, family) that I've lost sight of my own goals and what makes ME happy. I spent some time reading psychology articles and deep thinking, and I realised I haven't been setting boundaries. I don't think I ever have? So... This is the time of boundaries! Deciding what I'm not okay with and where my limits are - and then communicating that. The thing that's been bugging me the last few years is Injustice... The way dishonest people succeed and good people pay the price. Bullies. Psychopaths. Thieves. Cheats. Have you noticed how people side with the bully and blame the victim? Have you seen con people become rich and famous while their victims are left to struggle? I've started to realise that you have to MAKE justice happen, because it won't happen on its own. I'm not talking about revenge - I'm talking about making a choice and using the tools you have to bring a sense of justice to an unfair situation...

I'm officially on leave! Well, I'm not really. That's just what I've told my clients so that new projects can stop for a few days and I can have a chance to finish off the current projects. But psychologically it feels like I'm on leave, so it's still a win :)

I questioned it in the beginning and now I'm questioning again what the point is of me having a #noisecash account if I'm not much of a poster. If I'm not constantly posting then it's essentially the same as my FB, Twitter, Insta accounts which take up time and also don't give BCH. I haven't had the mental energy to write or even comment lately. I log in to check that my friends are still good, I show support with "likes" when I see good content, and that's it. But without the BCH incentive it's just another #socialmedia account like the rest... but with more food photos in my newsfeed.

My friend Dara (@Dara12) raised an interesting point, and it got me thinking... Is it possible to find true love if you're actively searching for it? My personal opinion is no. I think that if finding a partner becomes your goal, it changes the way you act and the way you see other people. It's only when you stop searching that you see people for who they really are, and they'll see the real you. If you fall in love while you're not being real, and while you're seeing people through a filter of what you're looking for, it can't be real love. To take it even further, I think the strongest foundation for love happens when people are close friends first, because then you're both being real and honest. And when looks fade, the bond is still there... #love #relationships #life

The Secret Is Not A Secret. The Secret, written by Rhonda Byrne, hit the shelves shortly after the film in 2006 and claimed to hold the secret method to obtaining everything your heart desires in life. I saw it advertised, I watched the hype, I listened to friends talking about it in conversations around the braai... And I decided I would not read or watch it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_(Byrne_book) I was browsing Netflix a few nights back, looking for a new documentary to watch, and The Secret popped up as a suggestion in my profile (really, Netflix?!). I was about to skip past when I remembered that my friend Rambles had mentioned before that she enjoyed the concept of the book/film. So in the interest of educating myself, I pressed "play". I watched the whole thing. I raised my eyebrows in parts, shook my head in other parts. By the end of it my blood pressure was way up and I had the urge to write to the author and directors and say "WTF - you need to refund your fans". In short, here's why I think The Secret is a load of bull... **The Experts** - the panel of "experts" is made up of a bunch of philosophers and authors and an entrepreneur. They all seem like nice folk, but they just happen to exhibit the typical signs and mannerisms of con-people. Notice the slicked-back hair, the practised smile, the unblinking or wide-eyed stare, the typical salesy lingo and catch phrases... All designed to build trust to get you to buy what they're selling. **Scientific Claims** - when someone says "scientists have proved that...", you should already hear a warning bell. When they use scientific terms to explain pseudoscience, your BS radar should be blaring. **The Law of Attraction** - this is the premise of the whole philosophy: you attract the things you think about or feel (i.e. manifest). If you think positive thoughts, good things will happen. If you feel strongly about getting something you really want, it will happen. It might seem like a harmless thing to believe, but look a bit closer... When a person thinks positively and pursues their goals, this is what happens: They project confidence, which makes people take them more seriously - in work, in relationships, in every area of life. Their positivity makes them better company, so people will want to spend more time with them, which expands a person's network and presents more opportunities. Their positive mindset means they will be more likely to *notice* and *take* opportunities, leading to success. Having goals and big dreams makes a person more inclined to act responsibly with their finances and decisions, and to spend time with people who share the same mindset, which limits the room for things to go wrong in life and things will *seem* to keep going right. There is no Law of Attraction. The universe doesn't care about you personally. The results that come from thinking and acting positively are **logical**. COMMON SENSE. You don't need to buy a book or watch the film to gain this knowledge, because logic is FOR FREE. The book and film are making specific people rich by taking common sense, twisting it around, adding some scientific terms and then tacitly encouraging readers to turn off their common sense and blindly believe a bunch of woo instead. And the more you believe the woo, and the less you use *your* common sense, the more spin-off products they can sell and the more money they can make. The Secret isn't magic, or the manifestation of energy - it's business. There's a lot of money to be made in selling hope and self-help. I'm sure I'll get hate for my opinion because the philosophy now has a cult-like following, but to anyone who feels defensive or aggressive when reading this: Apply the concept of thinking positively and acting positively to achieve your hopes and dreams, but don't let anyone sell you logic packaged as magic. You can achieve your goals with positivity and logic. There is no Secret. And I'm sorry to deal a double blow, but Santa Claus doesn't exist.

I watched "The Secret" last night. I've always had an opinion on the book and movie, but now that I've watched and paid close attention I feel like a proper rant post is forming in my head. I felt like I was watching a Verimark ad, with sleazy sales tactics, except the thing they are selling is common sense wrapped up in mystery and intrigue. Complete with false facts and bogus scientific claims. I need to write this out in more detail... Do you have an opinion on "The Secret"? I haven't disappeared... I seem to be in a permanent state of triage, solving problems for others and ending the day with no time or energy to focus on my own life. We've moved back to Lockdown Level 3 The alcohol ban has been partly lifted Curfew has moved later to 10pm Inter-provincial travel is permitted again Weddings can take place again. But many of us feel like our government will try to keep us in some form of lockdown for as long as they can, even when the threat of the pandemic has passed. #SouthAfrica

Really happy that we finally have a "to top" button! And the QR challenge yesterday was a nice surprise - thanks Noise team. On the down side I've noticed that quite a few of the accounts I follow have been flagged, but I can't see any reason for it. People who are active, post original content and engage well... Some of them have been trying for weeks to get unflagged, without any joy. Any idea what's up with the algorithm right now? Why are non-spammers getting flagged? #NoiseFeatures

On the one hand I feel like I should be talking about what's going on in South Africa right now, and on the other hand I feel like Noise is a good place to escape the feelings of panic and despair of "real life" because we're mostly looking forward to a hopeful crypto future here. Being involved in the tourism industry, this pandemic hit hard. Tourism businesses have fought so hard to survive Covid, we got hit again when the world incorrectly named the second variant after South Africa, then again now with the third wave lockdown, and now we're all being dealt another blow with the riots... Meanwhile our economic survival as an industry and as a country relies on tourists coming back to SA. Escaping reality feels like the only way to stay sane. #SouthAfrica

"Binance, the world's biggest crypto-currency exchange, has been banned by the UK's financial regulator." I can't even get my head around the level of corruption and bullying that's going on in/by the governments right now. This announcement will no doubt affect the market prices, buckle your seat belts. Earning interest is appealing, but hard wallets might be the best place for your BCH and other coins, until this BS is sorted out... I had a thought, while I was reading up about the original Wall Street crash almost a century ago... What if we're heading into a global Crypto crash? I personally don't think we are, but a part of me is watching the market with a feeling of "this is new territory, we don't know what's coming". Yes, there were corrections and dips in the past years, but the environment was different before. Now crypto is more mainstream with large corporations pushing their weight around and governments wanting to regulate... We just don't know what's ahead. I'm still going to hodl the coins I trust and hope for the best. Apart from BCH, which coins do you trust most to survive if we do face a large-scale crash? #BitcoinCash
