Today's story is the synthesis of the freewriters' daily prompt: "standing naked on the beach" and the celebration of July 5, Venezuelan independence day.

At the end of the text they will be able to find a small note with the names of each of the snails and who they represent in this story.

With that said, let's get started.

They were on a beach in the surroundings of Chichiriviche, the water was crystal clear, almost transparent, and you could see all the schools of fish that surrounded all the sand with joy, all along the coast. There was a lot of activity on the beach.

It is known that Venezuelan beaches are very beautiful because of their natural and pure appearance, their white sand and crystalline water. This beach was bustling with a lot of activity. You could see the different places where the tourists were under their umbrellas, drinking their pina coladas and their beers.

We could see the ants basking in the warm sun. We could see the beetles selling their trinkets, their spices like street vendors all over the beach.

The red bachacos were also playing bolivol and further on we could see a group of caterpillar children who were playing basketball on the beach. This Chichiriviche beach was a very busy place and the most important thing was that there was a group of Venezuelan rock snails who were preparing to give their great concert.

We could see Simón arranging his long black hair, Teresa adjusting her instruments and stretching. But also, suddenly, in the distance they realized that they saw a group of spiders. Black, cute and furry spiders with flutes that were made of snail shells and were approaching in large numbers, a number of about 50 towards the beach.

The first to realize they were coming was Simón and he immediately yelled: "Hey guys, the piper spiders are coming, watch out!"

Teresa immediately turned and looked, yelling: "Damn, this can't be good! Get us ready because they are surely going to attack us."

At that precise moment, the piper spiders invade the beach and immediately start playing their flute. Flute that, as I have said, they have are built with shells of snails. The ants and all the other animals that were on the beach were not affected by the sound of the flute, since it did not hurt them. But, nevertheless, the smaller creatures ran away, like ants and caterpillars, because they could be victims of these evil beings, so they left the beach.

But the spiders began to play their tune on their flute. Suddenly, all the rocker snails began to feel sleepy, they were like hypnotized. José immediately said: "I can't resist this music, I'm falling asleep, we have to do something." To which Luisa replies: "We cannot allow ourselves to be dominated by this, we have to fight. The spiders are controlling us, this cannot be."

The snails begin to move slowly, even slower because they were feeling sleepy. They grabbed their instruments very tightly and began to play them with all their might. Simón played the guitar loudly, while Luisa played the drums with a lot of fury. And in this way, they interrupt all the music that is heard. Of course, the spiders were not happy about this, they got very upset and started chasing all the snails.

Andrés immediately yells: "Guys, something has to be done!

We can't let the spiders get us. They ran a long way down the beach, but the spiders, obviously faster than the snails, are catching them one by one. The snails, though they fought hard and bravely, were far outnumbered and outnumbered by the spiders. So our rocker friends ended up trapped in the spiders' webs.

The spiders force each one of the snails, Simón, Luisa, Teresa, to remove their shells and remain naked on the beach, defeated. Violeta, with great sadness, says: "They have defeated us, they have taken away our music, our instruments, our shells, all the things that made us unique and gave us identity." Francisco, very thoughtful, says: "But we still have our identity, our determination. We have to fight for what we want, we have to defend our principles, we have to pursue our freedom."

These words of Francisco make the whole group of snails come together, take their instruments, despite the fact that the spiders had taken them away, break the nets and begin to play their instruments with more force in a desperate way. The spiders are immediately stunned, they start to feel a ringing in their ears and this sound makes all the snails escape. The spiders could not stand the pain and were upside down.

Completely defeated and stunned, and finally we can hear Anna's voice very excited saying: "We fucking did it! We are free!". Finally, all of our rocker friends can celebrate their independence day, Caracolina, on the beach, playing their favorite rock and roll music and dancing naked standing up in the sand on the beach. From this day on, they will never forget the strength and power of their music and their determination to always fight for their freedom and fight and stand up for what they believe in.

This story leaves us the moral that sometimes we have to leave what protects us in order to achieve true freedom, and that music and the spirit can always overcome the darkness of oppression. The names of the snails represent national figures and heroes of Venezuelan independence. Here is a summary of the names of each one:

  • Simón, in honor of the Liberator Simón Bolívar.

  • Teresa, in honor of the human rights defender Teresa Carreño.

  • José represents the poet and writer José Antonio Ramos Sucre.

  • Luisa represents the plastic artist Luisa Palacios.

  • Andrés represents our beloved Venezuelan poet Andrés Eloy Blanco.

  • Violeta represents the composer Violeta Aular.

  • Francisco represents our beloved painter and muralist Francisco Narváez.

  • Ana represents the writer and poet Ana Enriqueta Terán.

And this has been my story for today to celebrate independence day. I hope you enjoyed it.
