My incomplete, unupdated rig.

I don't know how I got fascinated with computers or maybe I just love the fact that I wanted to fix or build something.
Aside from me missing my husband, I also miss the things that we used to do together. One of which is driving and playing video games. Well, we do not own a gaming console but we would love to build our own computer rig.
Let me just share a few stories before I get to the title itself.

I am not a techy person to be honest but I find things or techy stuff fascinating once they are broken. Oh I did a little repair project, you can check it out here Fix it Felix: DIY repair project. You know how it feels when one of your gadgets or things gets broken and you don't have the money to buy a new one 'cos you know, me not rich. Of course, you would do anything to save money. Repair it by yourself, DIY.
Alright, going back to computer stuff.
I wasn't fond computers nor taking a computer related course for college as it didn't even cross my mind. Until one day, one of my cousins invited me and my sisters to his house so we can have movie time or quality time. We saw his house and dang, he has his own home theatre system with its own cpu. Oh by the way, my cousin was a video/multi-media editor so he has a lot of pc set up at home. He has his main rig which he uses for his work and gaming. He has 2 mid gaming rigs for gaming purposes or spare pc that he can use whenever he renders his work on his main rig. Then his home theater rig, we would play Splintercell: Blacklist together and he let me use his home theater rig.
This was way back in 2014, as far as I can remember. After hanging out a few times with him, he asked me what computer did we have at home and what computer games do I play. I told him a few games that our pc can run like Assassin's Creed Tomb raider, etc. Take note, the first or old versions wasn't demanding on the graphics.
After that, he gave me one of his mid-gaming rigs because he'll go out of the country.
I still have the other old parts with me and I plan to build it again so my father can have a pc on his own. His old pc is not working anymore. I don't have much time to fix it since I am a full time mom now, I don't have enough time and money to buy some parts but I'll find a way.
I don't remember exactly the specs are and I can't check it because I have to dig it up somewhere hahahaha! But here what I can remember:
Processor: Intel Core2 Duo (for sure it's quad-core because I know my cousin)
RAM: Kingston 2gb x 4 = 8gb
Motherboard: Asus P5Q Pro LGA 775 Atx
Cpu cooler: Deepcool Ice Edge 200
PSU: Cougar PowerX 550W Plus Bronze (which I don't have anymore, pumutok sya azor)
GPU: Palit GTX 650 Ti 2gb 128bit
Storage: 1tb WD BLUE and 1tb Seagate green
Chassis: NZXT Source 210 Elite white
There you go, then years went by and the games that I wanted to play doesn't even meet the required or recommended system requirements. There were games that I wanted to play but doesn't run well on my rig like, the new versions of Assassin's creed, Shadows of Mordor, Tomb Raider 2, Batman or other games that has detailed graphics. By the way, I don't like playing online computer games. Aside from I don't have someone to play with, I just don't like to interact.
Going back...
I wanted to upgrade my pc so I can play the games that I like, which I did. Good thing that when I became a customer support representative, my salary was a bit higher than my previous company's offer so I can somehow invest on my new rig.
I didn't buy it in cash, in fact my rig hasn't been fully upgraded yet. Why? GPUs are pricy. I plan to buy a 2nd hand GPU but I will need to buy it in cash. By the way, the other parts that I bought for my rig was bought via credit card. I used my bestfriend's credit card so I can pay it in installment basis. I think it cost at least 20k when I started to build my own rig. Here's what I got.
Asus TUF B360M-Plus Gaming $$
(The new Motherboars confused me as I initially purchased one RAM stick and bought another one but it didn't detect the 2nd stick. Then after consulting with my friends and cousin, we suddenly found out that you can already put 2 Rams next to each other. RAM slots go in pairs if you have 2 sticks. Usually you can put one on slot 1 and slot 3 or slot 2 and slot 4.)
Intel i3-8th gen $$
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 8gb DDR4 2400MHz x 2 = 16gb $$
PSU: Seasonic S12III - 550w 80+ bronze $
**I bought this one because the Cougar PSU exploded
GPU: Palit GTX 650 Ti 2gb 128bit ** $
Storage: 1tb WD BLUE & 1tb Seagate green **$
Chassis: Sharkoon TG4 $
Keyboard: 2nd hand Steelseries Apex 350 $
Mouse: Steelseries Rival 95 / Logitech G102 $
Mousepad: Steelseries $ **
Monitor: Avision 24" $
Legend:
** - old parts
$ - bought in cash
$$ - paid in installment
By the way, I purchased each of the parts individually except for the motherboard, processor and RAM as I can get more discount buying it all together. Buying in set can give you more discount or freebies too.
It's been years since I started to build my rig, since 2017 perhaps? UGH It's been yearsss!!!!!!
Well, I am still in search of a new GPU because I have a tight budget back then. I would really like to play at least some of the games that I have on my Steam and Epic Games account.
Oh I don't buy computer games as they are really pricy. I just buy the ones that are on sale hahahha. I also bought games on Epic Games, they release Free games every week but I have yet to play them.
I'd really love to play these games but I don't have much time. I plan to build my rig to be yellow and black as my favorite colors and call it bumble bee hihi.
How about a gaming console? I am not a fan of gaming console because both of my thumbs were damaged and I can't hold up a controller so long. That's why I am always used to playing using a keyboard.
Anyway, I will let my rig go to better hands, which is my husband. He always wanted to build a rig of his own and I told him that he can have mine and upgrade some parts the way he wants. What's his is mine and what's mine is his right? It's like a little incomplete gift hahahhaa. I can't play most of the time like before anyway so he can take advantage of it. Playing video games or mobile games are stress reliever for us. I can't play or I only have a little time to play so I'll stick with mobile games for now. At least my husband can be
I also would love to see him and our Lil B playing together once she can hahahah!
