Scene 1

Noel was one of the traffic police enforcer around the long way of circumferential road 5 or known as C-5 at congressional avenue extension Quezon City. It is the road of truck and big vehicles. There are times they are on the road to arrest road violators and most of the times they were just patrolling around or doing paper works on their office.

He has been serving the government and the public for five years now. But his salary has not improved. Those who -of course know someone in the higher rank has outrank him and got a better position and a better pay. He didn't complain but somehow he thinks that life really suck and insane. In the end he lose his will to give a better service on his work. Though he wanted to try other field. He can't go anywhere because he have three kids to support and Marites his nagging wife would disapproved, saying it is not the time to take the risks, if he did, for sure she will get mad and the next thing he knew all his things are on the road and she'll shout "Go home to your mother, you lazy as$hole! " And he can no longer go back home and in their province in Romblom. Thats a sarcasm and an exaggeration. But him knowing Marites, he knew better than disappoint her. Plus he needed to pay for his alcohol, smoke and some cheap girls on the side willing to fill his lonely, cold and empty bed.

He looks at the date, petsa de peligro October 13th, thursday and he looks at his wallet. He had no money to send to his wife, he had already taken an advance payment for his next salary on 15th. Mico his youngest child is on the hospital because of food poisoning. He was so worried, he needed the money. And he raises it to his chief.

His chief had understood and later they are on the road, they laid there barricade on the area and look for violators.

Scene 2

Roen, serving his boss for 15 years by driving a 6 wheeler truck (elf) is on his way to pick up some materials from the supplier. He has been working in minimum wage and was okay with it as long as his wife is happy holding his atm card and there is always food in the table plus they can also send their one and only child to school. Lately he has been saving money to buy his daughter a gift because she will graduate to college this coming November.

He has been doing that for a month. He would request a cash advance payment of 200 pesos (4$) to his weekly salary of 70$ and sometimes when there is overtime he also request it as cash advance too. He just needs another 4$ to complete his savings and he got that awhile ago when his boss come to the truck staging and command him to pick an urgent materials. He is very happy.

He smiles while driving and was excited to purchase his gift for his daughter when along the way he saw some of the construction worker by the looks of their clothes walking on the road along the long way of congressional ave extension. There were no jeepney on that way and riding a tricycle cost a lot, they need that money more than to spent them on a ride. As he has been always caring he offered them a ride. Though he knew that he violates a passenger rule violation he was positive there are no police stationed because he has always been on that route since he start working with his Boss.

But he was wrong.

Scene 3

Noel saw a 6 wheeler truck with people riding on the back. A violator. He instructed the driver to move on the side on talked to him.

Noel : May I have your license please and ORCR.

Roel had got his papers and knowing that he'll got in trouble with the urgent materials he is willing to compromise and for a lil peso he own

Roel : Sir I just saw them on the road and I had free space at the back so I asked them for a free ride.

Noel felt guilty.

Noel : But it doesn't mean you didn't violate the rule. How many passenger are you allowed to ride with? 3 how many is on your back? 4?

Roel : Sir. Please can we just talk about it. I still had an urgent matters to attend to. Please can we just talk about it.

Noel : What? What do you want me to do?

Roen : Can I just give you cash for snacks?

Noel : How much is that?

Roen : I still have 200pesos available here sir.

Noel : Put it on your orcr, sandwich it in and give it to me.

Roen : Here it is sir. Sorry for the trouble sir.

Roen is thankful for his license is still with him though his 200 pesos cash advance for his daughter gift was spent differently. He was more worried to lose his job.

Noel stared at the 200 pesos he got, while thinking it wasn't enough for the medication of his son.

This fiction was inspired while seeing those police and big trucks along congressional avenue extension yesterday. 👀👀

Petsa de peligro is a filipino term when the next salary date is still 2 or 3 days before it but you are already running out of money.
