Depression is one of the most common illnesses in the world. According to the World Health Organisation, about 350 million people worldwide are currently suffering from this depressive disorder, which is pushing them towards disability.

What is depression?

Depression is a very common but serious type of mental disorder that can have a negative effect on your feelings, thoughts and actions. Depression is a chronic problem.Appropriate treatment and advice are needed to get rid of it.

Why is depression?

Depression is a complex disease. It is not possible for anyone to say exactly why this disease occurs. However, in many cases there are some common reasons for the origin of the disease.

1. Insult

Many suffer from depression if they admit to being humiliated emotionally or physically.

2. Insecurity or loneliness

Many suffer from depression due to social and family insecurity. In addition, many suffer from depression due to lack of relationship or disagreement with parents, friends or other close people.

3. Death : Mourning Death of a loved one increases the risk of depression.

4. Hereditary influences

If someone in the family has depression, it affects others

5. Major changes in lifestyle

Many people suffer from depression when there is a big change in their life. Many suffer from depression when they lose their jobs, retire, lose income, change places, or get divorced. .

6. Side effects of any major disease

If there is any major disease, the patient may suffer from depression.

7. Effects of medication

Some people also suffer from depression as a result of taking certain medications. For example, taking isotretinoin or the antiviral ‘interferon-alpha’ used to treat acne can lead to depression.

How do you know if you are depressed?

1. Reluctance to work

Once you get depressed, you will find no interest in the work you used to enjoy.

2. Changes in diet

Depression will change your regular eating habits. Either you eat more than usual or you will have an aversion to food. As a result, you will gain or lose weight fast.

3. Prolonged insomnia

Prolonged insomnia is a symptom of depression. Eighty percent of adults who suffer from depression have insomnia

4. Exhaustion

Exhaustion will definitely consume you if you are suffering from depression

5. Wrap up in yourself

Depression will keep you wrapped up in yourself. I don't like the company of family and friends. Socialization will often become unbearable. .

6. Lack of focus on everything

Can't concentrate properly on anything. You can't listen to others with your mind or take part in any discussion.

7. Negative attitude about everything Sadness, hopelessness and despair will surround you. Negative attitudes will continue to appear in everything. .

8. Headaches and gastric problems Regular headaches and digestive problems are also symptoms of depression.

Ways to get rid of depression

1. Medicine

2. Psychotherapy / cognitive behavior therapy (CBT)

Depression will leave you helpless. To get rid of depression, you need to prepare yourself for a variety of therapies and treatments. It is almost impossible to get rid of this disease without your own efforts. To get rid of depression, you need to change your daily activities, eating habits, lifestyle and even thoughts.

The following points can be helpful to get rid of depression-

1. Continue a Routine

2. Working with goals

3. Exercise regularly

4. Eating a balanced diet :According to psychiatrists, foods that contain omega-3 fatty acids and folic acid can help reduce depression.

5. Eliminate insomnia .

6. Think positive .

7. Spending time in pleasurable work .

Taking the advice of a psychiatrist and psychologist Treatment should be continued until the depression is completely cured.
