Nutritional value of Carambola

Farah Masuda, head of the Department of Food and Nutrition at the Bangladesh Home Economics College, said, “Although Carambola is a seasonal fruit, some trees grow it all year round or more. It has the ability to fight disease. ”

About the nutritional value of Carambola, she said, every 100 grams of Carambola has 50 kilocalories of food energy, 0.5 grams of protein, 0.1 grams of fat, 5.1 grams of carbohydrates.

Carambola also contains some vitamins and minerals. Each 100 grams of Carambola contains 6.1 mg of vitamin C, 0.4 g of minerals, 1.20 m. Grams of iron and 11 mg of calcium.

Carambola works like a medicine in the human body. Here are some of the benefits:

  • Carambola is a fibrous fruit and it acts as a remedy for constipation.

  • It is a very useful fruit for those who have digestive problems.

  • This fruit reduces the level of harmful cholesterol in the body. As a result, blood pressure is under control. It also contains some amount of potassium and sodium which helps in reducing high blood pressure.

  • Carambola has antiseptic power which helps in resolving various skin complications like acne, rashes etc. Keeps the skin well.

  • Those who have diabetes will benefit from playing Carambola regularly.

  • Vitamin C in good amount helps in preventing scurvy. Moreover, it keeps teeth, gums and bones healthy.

  • Due to its immune system, this fruit acts as an antidote for fever, cold, cough and other cold-related problems.

  • It contains ellagic acid, which prevents esophageal (intestinal) cancer.

Carambola also has many qualities. Its leaves, young fruits all work medicinally. The juice of Carambola leaves and young fruits contains tannins, which help in blood clotting.

The problem of cold is easily cured by burning Carambola and playing with it. The pulp of this fruit enhances appetite and digestion.

Carambola is a cold and sour fruit. So it acts as an antiperspirant, expectorant and antiseptic.

However, Farah Masuda advised not to eat Carambola on an empty stomach. Because it can cause gas problems. This can lead to abdominal pain or vomiting.
