Hi Everyone

Today is another beautiful day on the earth's surface to appreciate our existence. Many had slept and never woke up, many woke but they found themselves in places they never wished.
Such is life. Do you think it's by your power? Or the grace of the Lord.

The vibes I am having on the platform these days are so cool ๐Ÿ˜Ž, having people to look up to and get inspired from is something to be appreciated. My last article was on the prompt word โ€œdreamโ€ by @JonicaBradley and was inspired by my mentor @Jane . I appreciate her writing skill and her ability to express her thoughts in words.

She never stopped. I read another article of hers where she wrote another prompt word โ€œliesโ€. It was indeed an amazing one when she had to discuss the different phases lies could emerge from and how we got ourselves addicted to the act of lying.

Lies

In the world we found ourselves today we find it hard to stay out of lying. Age never matters because we even see the elderly ones lie. In our community, our society, schools, places of work, offices, students to lecturers, among bosses and servants, husband and wife, parent and children, even among friends and peer groups.

Lying has become something common and usual, no one even cares if there is any consequence to it. Especially the emergence of improved technology. If some people call it a curse, I won't argue with them because they saw it from their point of view. A number 6 to you might be a 9 to another person.

Come to think about the use of our cell phones and how it contributes to the way people lied to each other.
There was a day when I was at the university school park where drivers would take turns driving students to and from the school premises and off-campus. So I boarded a bus as usual and the driver was in. We were about to journey to the school gate and that should be ยพ the journey off-campus. So this driver received a call from a fellow driver, we could hear what the other driver was asking him because the phone was on speaker.

Image captured and captioned by yours truly ๐Ÿคช

The other driver was about to ask him about the money he promised to pay him. Our driver already knew that's what he must have called for, then he answered him. "My friend, we can't see each other right now because I am at the mechanic workshop" he added that he had spent a lot of money on his vehicle but still haven't got his motor back on track. His friend felt sad for thinking he was truly at the mechanic workshop meanwhile his bus is at the school gate filled with students and working fine.

After dropping his call, we all screamed at the same timeโ€ฆ Haaaaaa!!! Driver!! ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜†

We lie to friends, on our cellphone. Even on chats at times, we pretend to be laughing at the message the sender drops typing lots of "LOL" and laughing emojis. Meanwhile, there is no smile on our face not to talk of making us show our teeth.

The consequence on my side.

There was a day when I was on my way to visit my aunt. She lives in an apartment close to our house. So most of the time we go visit her to help her with some house chores.

By the roadside, there is a girl who was my younger sister's classmate from her former school. She would always ask my sister whenever we passed in front of her house.

Their friendship grew stronger to the extent that even her mom knows my sister well and she is always welcomed to their home anytime any day. But it's been a while since they met with each other, they hardly saw each other unless my sister gets back from her workplace once a month.

Since I am the only one at home and whenever my aunt needs our presence I would be the one she calls and I would surely pass by this girl's house. Most times they are always outdoor and sometimes indoor.

Then that day I was on my way to my aunt's house in a rush. I came across this girl on her way to get something, she asked me about my sister, out of a joke I replied that "she is dead" and walked over to my auntโ€™s place.

I never knew what I said to be a joke(lie) which was not true. To her, it already got deep down her heart. She ran home and told her mom!. She was so sad and crying when she was telling her mom. She said "My friend's brother said she is dead''. Her mum was shocked to hear such bad news. She set forward to my auntโ€™s house in annoyance accusing her of not telling her anything. I was there looking and wondering the reason both of them could have come over to meet my aunt. It wasnโ€™t something usual at all.

She asked my aunt "why don't you tell me his sister is dead?" (Pointing at me). After saying this my aunt was also shocked to hear such from an outsider she asked who told her?. They told my sister I was the one who gave breaking news to her daughter on that very day.

I wasn't sure if I was laughing or just planning to run away!. My aunt asked me if I said so. Then I replied to her that I was just joking with her daughter (my sister's friend) and I never meant what I said would have touched her so hard. My aunt apologized on my behalf and I did the same too. I already started to tremble in fear and my heart beats faster.

My aunt returned from escorting them to their home and came back for me. She sat me down, dragged my ears, and twisted them till they got red and hot. Then she warned me never to try such again in my life. It was a great lesson for me. Since then I always make sure to know what to say and when to utter them.

IT IS NOT GOODBYE BUT SEE YOU AGAIN ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹

Wah. That was karma to the driver.. But good things you guys were safe.
And to that bad joke, I honestly did that before too ๐Ÿ™ˆ well, it's just an expression to us.. "She/he's dead" when asked about the whereabouts of a certain person we knew ๐Ÿคฃ

๐Ÿ˜‚. I thought she would understand thatโ€™s it all a joke. But she took it serious with immediate effect. I even thought maybe because she was a girl and she couldnโ€™t hold bad news. Because she should have asked again to be certain maybe I was joking or not. But she didnโ€™t ๐Ÿ˜‚

Technology has aided lying due to communicating from a long distance, I believe lying has become a new normal in the world today.

That joke about your sister was quite expensive, sure your aunt made you learn your lessons.

Yeah everything had an advantage and a disadvantage. Thatโ€™s just some of the disadvantages of technology.

And yeah I learnt from the expensive joke and never tried such again.

Lying over the phone is a common thing. A couple of years ago, I was walking down a street in Imo state when I heard a man telling his friend via phone call that he is currently in USA... I was like, what!
