A night I can never forget.
Most times we just have to look back and remember the old times, remember the memories we had while we were younger, and smile at ourselves. Sometimes I ask myself β Am I the one that did this?β π. Anyway, itβs okay to think we are now mature to have done such a thing in the past.
We were in the sitting room together with mum and my siblings while having some gist about our childhood days and it was total fun. We talked about how Mum prepares sumptuous meals and the aromatic smell that makes us happy to eat even before the food is ready. We also talked about her discipline and moral lessons. π. She was just smiling at all we say.
Not until I broke the silence again. I asked my brother and sister if they could remember the night we got scared to death. π and they also burst into laughter while I narrated what happened that very day to Mum.
It was on a weekend, so mum and dad had to travel somewhere. They never planned to spend the night over there so we were sure they would be back that very day but it would be in the evening or late in the night.
We played in the room throughout the day. We scattered all the clothes and the room was disorganized. We forgot to arrange them because there was a power supply again. We went to the living room to watch cartoons till it was nightfall then the power supply went off.
Everywhere was dark and mum and dad were yet to arrive. We couldnβt see anything so we got scared π±. Three of us held each other and quietly walked into the bedroom like blind men. We were touching the walls with our hands to avoid an accident. π
Finally, we got into the bedroom waiting for the knock on the door. After some hours together none of us could sleep. The silence went on in expectation of their arrival. Then my younger sister sighted something in one corner of the room. It was just like a moving object. When we focused more it somehow changed to a lion head. My sis was about to cry. Then I told my brother to go and check what is there since he is the firstborn. He said that the thing could not be a lion, it looked like a cat. When we heard him call it a cat again we were more scared that it could jump at us.
We kept on staring and monitoring its movements. If it shakes to the right we shift closer to the wall till we get to the wall and feel like entering the wall. We got stuck as no one could go face the scary cat right in front of us.
After a few hours, we decided to close our eyes at once and never open them again till the next day. Then I remembered we havenβt locked the entrance door. Which brought more fear upon us, more cats could just find their way in. All our prayers then were to hear Mum call our names so we can answer.
Mum and dad didnβt arrive that night. So we had to sleep alone without closing the door in a room with the strange cat. When it was the morning we woke up but we never found any cat inside. My sister said it might have licked our faces and run away. Then my brother said it was the laundry basket and clothes we scattered that brought the view of the cat and lion to our faces.
I went to the laundry basket and kicked it so hard in annoyance. Then we all laughed at our silly and crazy night. My brother told us to arrange the home before Mum and Dad arrived. We did so and a few moments after they arrived home. They apologized for not coming back as promised because they were stuck in traffic.
It was a night we could never forget.
Incan imagine the feeling you all must have had that night. At that point of fear, anything can take the resemblance of some animal or something. Thank God you all did not burn down the house in fear.
